Combined Heat & Power

Micro Combined Heat and Power Systems (micro-CHP) systems are highly efficient natural gas systems that produce both electricity and heat at the same time. Because they produce both heat and electricity simultaneously they are also known as "co-generation" systems. Less common are systems that produce electricity, and that can be used to cool as well as heat--so called "tri-generation" systems.

Installation, Warranty & Maintenance

  • How and Where They're Installed

    • CHP systems are installed in the utility room or basement - usually the same location where the previous furnace had been located.
    • CHP systems need to be vented.
  • Warranty. Operation and Maintenance

    • CHP Systems are usually warranted for 5 to 20 years.
    • CHO units can be expected to last 20+ years.
