What You Need to Know
Description:
Off Grid PV House constructed with 9 1/2 inch thick walls with both fiber and rigid insulations plus a dead air space to use as conduit and for added insulation value. 3,000 square foot house, built in stages since 1994, as time & money allowed. Hillside site allows enjoyment of outrageous views & good breezes. CMP wanted the cost of a house mortgage to bring power, prodding me to alternatives. Starting with a generator we have added 1000 watts photovoltaics & recently upgraded from my old reliable Whisper H900 to Whisper 500 (3000 watt) wind turbine for my current hybrid system. Recycled lumber was used in construction.
Efficiency or Sustainability Improvements:
Batt/Blanket Fiberglass Daylighting, Local Materials, Passive solar, Rain Barrels, Recycled Materials, Super Insulated Walls/ Roof
