What You Need to Know

Description:

Built in 1987, E & E's global headquarters is one of the oldest LEED-EB Platinum Certified buildings in the world. A 290' atrium and operable windows support passive cooling by convective ventilation. Indoor air quality is enhanced by extensive plantings throughout the the building. Active landscaping is used to control wind and blowing snow. Building orientation and high thermal mass materials promote winter solar heat gain and passive ventilation. Plant boxes drape vines down the walls to cool and protect the building during the summer while providing habitat for insects and birds. 22kW of solar panels on the roof are linked to E & E's proprietary GreenMeter building energy monitoring/auditing system. We are currently testing waterless unrinals and use dual flush toilets. We compost food scraps from our cafeteria with bins located on-site. There are 2 miles of private walking trails on site.
