What You Need to Know
Description:
Passive solar heating through south-facing window array. Active solar hot water back-up planned but not constructed yet. Seeking financing... House floors and stair tower are poured concrete for both strength and thermal storage. Second floor hangs from dome perimeter.
Efficiency or Sustainability Improvements:
Spray Foam Closed Cell Daylighting, Passive solar, Sunspace, Super Insulated Walls/ Roof
Open House Info:
Route 7 in Gt. Barrington, turn onto Blue Hill Road (opposite bowling alley), 1 mile up hill to #61, driveway on left past mailbox. Dogs in cars please. Dome is my original math, not geodesic, since geodesic domes are poorly suited for small construction due to undulating strut rows. Use of a dome shape is critical to minimizing surface area in relation to interior volume.
