What You Need to Know
Description:
Grid Tied PV The center installed 109 PV panels in 2007 that generate almost half of the electricity used by the building. The entire building was retrofit with new lighting, energy star appliances and timers to lower the phantom load of the building during off hours. The Audubon Center and Sanctuary is a 3-story nature center that sits on over 600 acres of wetlands in Western New York. A sustainability plan to lower energy use has been implemented over the last 5 years. Exhibits and signs in the building explain what has been done in each room. There are also live animals, including a bald eagle and several reptiles and amphibians, as well as hands on exhibits. For more information, go to www.jamestownaudubon.org.
