Description:
"Windy" is a municipal scale wind turbine located at a public school complex in Medford, in a public park, next to I-93.
Other Benefits:
"Windy" raises awareness about clean energy and stands as an urban example that wind turbines can be beautiful and not noisy or disruptive.
My Motivation:
"Windy" was constructed to provide clean energy for the schools, but also to educate children and residents and to be an example for others.
Open House Info:
On Saturday October 13th, the annual Harvest Your Energy Festival will be held at the base of "Windy" our municipal-scale wind turbine from 1-4PM. During the festival there will be 2 presentations about "Windy" as well as a guided tour by the meterologist who was key in its development. There will also be a home energy seminar, activities, live music, and many tables educating about solar energy, environmental issues and healthy living. Stop by this fun afternoon and see our wind turbine.
