  • "Will never recommend"

    Reviewed Apr 12, 2020

We signed with peg solar in September 2019 after lot of delays in questions being answered and final layout. We did wait patiently for them to install for 90 days as promised but after when we called for updates we were redirected a lot. Finally we got hold of Joe who informed us that our project has not moved from months and they do not have any updates and asked us to wait another 30 days as their contract says 90-120 days. After 20 days we tried to get updates because we did not hear anything from them and same very hard to get hold of anyone who can give us update. Finally we got a call back from Joe who suggested it is going to take and if you want we can cancel the project and we agreed and he said we will send you an update email of cancellation. It's been more than a month now and we are not able to get hold of anyone.
We have tried several times to get our money back but they have our project cancelled in their system but noone to let us know when we are going to get our money back. Never going to recommend them. We are stuck as they have lot of our money and in these bad times we are not able to get any answers.

    Reviewed Feb 27, 2020

I was very satisfied overall with my project. 12.9 KW system with no batteries. in Charlotte, NC.

The initial sales process was great. They patiently answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns. They provided several references for older and new jobs/projects that they had completed.

Once I signed the papers the process was very smooth. They completed as much of the paperwork as possible and made the process very smooth. They also submitted all of the paperwork with Duke Energy to ensure I got the energy company rebate.

The installation process got off to a slow start due to rain and projects getting backed up. My installation started about two months after we projected completion. The actual installation took only one day and the crew was great and professional. The only issue I faced post-install was a single solar panel wasn't working while everything else was online. It took several months to get the one panel online, which annoyed me and took many calls, but this is my only major complaint with the whole process.

I received the energy rebate and the federal tax credit as expected. The only cost surprise was from Duke Energy, Instead of paying a $0 bill monthly (when the sun is shining) I have to pay $15/month for the Duke connection fee (not a big deal but thought it was worth mentioning).

Overall, I would do solar again and I would recommend PEG.

  • "BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!"

    Reviewed Feb 24, 2020

I chose this company because of the price and initial opinion of the company. Now I regret ever having considered solar at all. I signed up in August 2019, it is now almost the end of February 2020. The company president, J Ordia, verbally assured me a timely installation, that a couple months would see the project completion. For them to do the project I needed to make a $6,200 alteration to the roof, I completed in a week of the contract signing. They contacted me in October wanting more money to purchase materials for this project. They contacted me in December looking for more funds to do the project a different way than quoted. Other than that they have never contacted me without my prompting. They always have some lame excuse. and they will try to get to my project. The end of the year passed and the end of that government incentive. Anyway, this is awful. This company in my opinion should not be in business. I am certain I will have to go to court to get my expenses returned. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

We have been in our house now a full year with our Hybrid Solar System. I wanted to wait a full year before commenting on it all. Signing up was easy. There was a small delay with the permit, but their team handled it. The install took a few days longer because it was sleeting 2 of the 4 days they were here. The men that came were very professional and polite.

Since the installation, I have had no issues or service calls. I was worried about that since I had read reviews that seemed like the new technology might have some glitches. Anyway, it’s been a year and my electric bill has been cancelled out. We lost power multiple times and everything worked as it should. I haven’t had to press any buttons or anything. People come over and see it and many comment on how clean the wiring was done.

    I 100% recommend them.

To whom it may concern I am writing this review to alert any potential purchasers to the issues that I have had with my 15 KW system installed by PEG Solar. First the good; the folks are polite so you couldn't ask for more in that regard.

The installation was not the best quality things were sloppy and lacked quality control, took calling the owner to have site visit to correct. I am still dealing with clogged gutters and down spouts as a result of nylon tie straps and other consumables used to install the solar panels on my roof.

My home was new construction so when you find these parts all around the perimeter of the home only points in one direction. The system was installed in December and has been inconsistently performing since that time. I have SolarEdge Inverters, Canadian Solar panels and LG battery back up. Over the last two weeks ¾ of my panels and one inverter has been offline. The system has not functioned in 100% configuration as installed. I have made several calls and emailed PEG owners about the problem all the gave was more excuses about firmware which since December has been updated a number of times as well as communications card which the first excuse was my system exceeded the cellular data cap so I recommended connecting to my home internet provider. Still no resolution therefore I am placing this review as well as opening a case with the Better Business Bureau of both Carolinas and Virginia to make sure you make an informed decision about the product and services you are contracting for as I have not been satisfied with either the product or service. Buyer be ware!are encouraged to investigate other solutions.

****Update the owner engaged and hired more people to address issues and concerns. This matter has been fully remedied and is closed. *****

The entire process was great. Entire staff is very knowledgable and very responsive. I was so hesitant because for some reason, I kept expecting something to go wrong, but the panels work really well and net metering is all set up.

PEG Solar did a first class job and completed a large residential grid-tied rooftop installation (66 panels) on schedule. They listened to my requirements and came through, I highly recommend them to anyone considering a solar installation. I am getting more than 100 kWh on each sunny day.

So happy using energy sage. PEG Solar was professional and very competitive. Highly Recommend them! Daniel was so helpful! Installers Tom and Alex were very knowledgable. Do your research and make sure you provide your yearly electric bill so you can get a system that will cover your usage. Make sure you have the roofers measure your roof to get an accurate measurement BEFORE they come out to install. DO NOT RELY ON google earth pics.

I am very pleased with my PEG Solar installation. Joe was very professional and honest. The work was done well, they cleaned up after themselves, and it went surprisingly quick. When I had a problem he got right on it. They took care of all the county paper work which was a real blessing. I encourage my friends to go with them.

  • "Extremely Satisfied"

    Reviewed Apr 26, 2016

I was skeptical of P.E.G. Alternative Energy at first because I found their company on Craigslist. After I called and talked with Joe about my options I felt much better. Joe actually came all the way down to the Outer Banks of North Caroline to introduce himself and to take a look at my roof to see my best options, before I committed to anything. Once we came up with the best option for my goals and I decided to move forward things moved quickly. Joe had permits and an installation date set within a week. Installation was on time and done professionally and I could not be happier with the results, haven't had a bill in 4 months now. Joe was also very responsive to my follow up questions after the installation. Overall, I was extremely satisfied start to finish with the professionalism and quality of service.

  • "1st-rate in every way"

    Reviewed Apr 08, 2016

I am grateful for the chance to say how completely grateful we are to have had the chance to work with PEG.

Joe, Cody and Rachel made the installation run smoothly, even when presented with some surprises at our very old house during installation. They simply figured out what needed doing, and then did it, no matter the extra time it took. 1st-rate expertise, integrity, and commitment to the highest standards. Very seldom does one encounter such a combination. In the planning process, Josh was also very helpful and very patient with our endless questions.

We're excited to have our system up and running. It will lower our electric bill considerably and, since we chose a system with battery back-up, it will serve as an emergency power source during outages.

We could not recommend them more strongly.

Been dreaming about going solar for a while, but couldn't stomach the cost.

Came across PEG's Craigslist ad, and decided to get a quote. After some back and forth on the system specs, we settled on a great price, and we got the project started. Happy to report that the system is fully functional, and it's really exciting to be generating my own power.

I couldn't have asked for a better vendor than PEG. Every question got answered quickly, and they pay close attention to every detail. I think the inspector was even impressed at the knowledge and professionalism they showed when they walked him through the inspection. The installers have a great work ethic, and were very good at cleaning up the work area after installation.

It's always a little nerve racking making major purchases like this, but I'm very glad I did. I would be happy to act as a reference for them in the future.

Joe @ P.E.G. is a consumate pro, an honest guy and extremely knowledgeable about solar and solar installations. From the first talk, to the quotes, to the installation and post-installation follow-ups, we were both impressed and happy with the quality and value of our solar installation (50 panels) from P.E.G. Our panels have been working for about year now and have had zero issues, though I'm 100% confident that if we did have any issues, Joe would be on it to get anything resolved right away.

I have no hesitation in recommending P.E.G. as a solar installer, and would use them again if and when we decide to add more panels to our house.
