What You Need to Know
Description:
Install of geothermal system to provide heat, cooling and hot water. Install of solar panels.
Maintenance Requirements:
Have not faced any maintenance issues.
Efficiency or Sustainability Improvements:
Sprayed foam insulation in attic and basement. Wool insulation in exterior walls. Replaced single pane windows.
My Motivation:
Benefit the environment while controlling energy costs.
Advice:
Do a lot of research on the systems you are considering. Research the financial costs, benefits, tax incentives and rebates when making your decision.
Experience with Installer:
We were quite pleased with our installers. The biggest issue with the geothermal install was the necessity of installing a completely new ducting system.
Additional Notes:
Our house was built in the 1800's. Successive additions and remodeling provided challenges to the install process for the geothermal.
