What You Need to Know

Description:

It is a 20 400watt Panel system with individual Enphase inverters per panel

Other Benefits:

Included in the price was the Bird / Varmint screening around the Panels and the Enphase Monitoring of usage and production on a detailed basis.

Maintenance Requirements:

It has a 25 year Warranty so hopefully the Maintenance will be past my lifetime.

My Motivation:

The investment and potential inflation which has occurred and the payback on the investment as a fixed income retiree.

Advice:

I was a migratory snowbird, so I did not have a year-round history of usage, so I tried to estimate the increased costs living here in the summer and it appears I overestimated the usage or underestimated the production. With the Enphase monitoring you figure out quickly how to revise your energy usage. Now we increase the energy usage beginning at 9 am and cut it off at 4 pm until the lower rates are available. We keep our home very comfortable ie 72 in the day vs 80, then we go to 80 until 8 pm when the rates go down, we wash our dishes and cloths during the day vs at night or week ends and still generate a monthly credit for the first 2 months which includes all your fixed costs like Meter Reading, Solar Subsidies Taxes Etc. which amount to around $45.

Experience with Installer:

They were very forthright and honest during the sale as well as their competitor provided in the quote process by Energy Sage vs the cold call outfits who came out of the blue. Green Muscle manages and performs all their own installation and maintenance as far as I could identify and didn't subcontract, therefore they do their own maintenance and follow up after the installation.

Additional Notes:

With the current inflationary spiral and the forecast black or brown outs it appears we might have made a wise choice. The last thing I considered was environmental benefits, however the greatest environmental benefit in and to Arizona is the water conservation not the CO2 reduction since Ag consumes about 40% and Energy Production is close to 35%, and golf courses use recycled water.
