Solar made easy

What You Need to Know

Description:

My system of 6.08Kwdc consist of 15 Q-Cell Q Peak Duo BLMK-G10+ 405 Panels with 15 Enphase IQ8 Plus microinverters. All components have a 25 year manufacturer warranty with a the first 5 yr. production guaranteed, then a 25 year performance guaranteed. There is also a 10 Labor Warranty and a 5 Year Roof Warranty by Renu Energy Solutions.

Other Benefits:

The system was installed with the components in my garage except for the disconnect switch which Duke Energy required outside by the meter. This makes the installation clean looking which the HOA appreciates. The Enlighten App from Enphase allows me to activity monitor my system production and my usage as well as the output of each panel.

Maintenance Requirements:

The system is new so there is no maintenance at this point and I'm not expecting any other then spraying the dirt off the panels if they need it.

My Motivation:

My house was perfectly situated for a solar system. I wanted to have a stable payment for my electricity and be ahead of the rate increases. Also, this will be good for the environment, I know my contribution is small but it has to start somewhere. This will also increase the value of my house.

Advice:

Working with EnergySage was very helpful because I submitted my information to them and they had companies send quotes to their marketplace where I could review and decide which vendors to work with. I felt this process put me in control instead of having reps knock on my door.

Experience with Installer:

I choose 3 vendor proposals and then meet with all three to make my final choice based on what the rep presented. I choice my final vendor based on relationship with the rep, proximity to my location, years of experience of the company and number of installs. Finally, the bottom line price and monthly finance payments. Note, one company had slightly lower payments lower but the bottom line price was higher which would cost me more if I wanted to pay off the loan later.

Additional Notes:

I wanted to do this project a year ago but HOA would not allow. Then the HOA was handed over to the residents and they approved solar systems with their input. Be sure both spouses are included in the meetings and decision. Finally, I'm a big believer in spreadsheets so it's easier to compare the companies.

Open House Info:

If someone wants to see my system, please text me at 443-257-9410 to talk and make arrangements. Again, understand that my system is only been in operation for 3 weeks so I don't have a lot of data to share at this point. Several of my neighbors are considering but waiting to see how my system does first.
