351-kilowatt solar array on the Melrose middle and high school complex
Since 2011, the City of Melrose, its residents and businesses have added solar systems producing over 1 million kWh of solar energy each year. In 2012, Melrose was selected to participate in the Solarize Mass program, a limited time program which offered bulk purchase pricing on solar PV. Solarize resulted in more than 75 property owners going solar, and started a trend as there are currently more than 100 residential installations in Melrose. Additonally, the City has completed energy efficiency upgrades on many buildings including the installation of a 351kW solar array on the Melrose middle and high school complex.
Going solar has a wide range of benefits and that's great news! Whether economic, environmental, personal, or political, all of these benefits are fueling the United States’ solar power boom.
