What You Need to Know
Description:
This system uses a heat collector attached to the back of the solar electrical panels by running pool water through the collector. This cools the solar panels, making them more efficient. The added benefit is that as its cooling the solar panels, the water in the collector heats up, and my pool gets heated. It works incredibly well, and simply uses my existing pool pump, so there is no additional electricity required to make this work. It's a brilliant idea!
Other Benefits:
Efficiency of the solar panels is improved. Pool is heated. No additional electrical consumption. 25 year warranty on the entire system.
Maintenance Requirements:
Wash the solar panels 3-4 times per year.
Efficiency or Sustainability Improvements:
Added a EV car charger, and whole home battery system.
My Motivation:
Saving Money, Warmer Pool, Increase the value of my home.
Advice:
Make sure you use only solar panels from companies that make other items, like TVs, phones, washing machines, ships, cars, etc. The 25 year panel warranty is only as good as the company that stands behind it.
Experience with Installer:
Many of my friends who have gone solar found that the company who installed theirs was no longer in business. Find a company that has been in business at least 10 years, so you know they will be around if anything needs maintenance or when the inverter needs replacing.
Open House Info:
You can drive by and view the property any time, but don't knock on the door please. I have small children that are nervous around strangers.
