It was a long process but worth all the time and effort.

What You Need to Know

Description:

Qcells 400 Watt panels, Enphase IQ8+ inverters, Fraknlin Whole Home 13.5 kw Battery storage. 19 panels total. 11 on one roof region and 8 on another to capture full day sun.

Other Benefits:

Panels works great on cloudy days. Since installed I am averaging about 32 kWh a day. On a cloudy day my production was 17 kWh.

Maintenance Requirements:

No maintenance required so far. I plan to do annual cleaning of panels.

My Motivation:

1-wanted battery storage in case of power outages, 2-less costly charging for my current EV, 3-reduce power costs which have steadily risen over last 5 years in the home, 4- increase value of the house.

Advice:

It can be a slow process for permitting and approval. I started at end of May and received permit at the end of October. Install itself only took about 8 hours. Communication with/from installer is key. The electrician doing the install should be the person to do home assessment for solar. Shop around for financing options as a credit union or another bank my have better rates and lower origination fees.

Experience with Installer:

Gold Path Solar was awesome to work with. I had one main contact through the whole process. They provided weekly or bi-weekly updates on the project including documents that I needed to sign. Installer team was amazing. They cared about home and ensures that no damaged was done to property. I am a science person, so they actually explained things to me while they were installing so I felt like I was part of the install. I had 3 people on my project but they still completed it within 8 hours.
