EnergySage is the largest and only truly vendor-neutral online marketplace for solar. We provide the best way for Americans to explore their solar options: by comparing multiple choices online with the support of objective solar experts. This exciting Boston-based cleantech startup launched its Solar Marketplace in early 2013 and is the second biggest solar site in the US.

EnergySage is seeking a current college senior with familiarity in energy and/or sustainability to help develop new articles for the EnergySage website. This is a contract/freelance position with the potential to transition into a full-time position in summer 2017. Applicants can work remotely or locally at our Boston office, and will be paid per article completion.

Location: Remotely or locally (Boston, MA)
Duration: Part-time during school year
Compensation: Contractor to be paid per article completed

Responsibilities

EnergySage content is educational and informative, and designed to provide meaningful and impartial information to energy-conscious homeowners. This contract position will play an integral role in developing content for a new area of the EnergySage website. This writer/researcher will be responsible for authoring 3-4 explanatory articles on solar energy policies. This includes the following responsibilities:

  • Research solar energy policies at the state/local level
  • Develop helpful, consumer-friendly articles that explain the specifics of utility policies related to solar
  • Identify helpful, impartial academic and government resources that support all articles

Qualifications

  • Experience researching and developing educational content
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • A self-starter with a strong drive to achieve
  • Experience writing for web and/or a consumer audience (preferred)
  • Familiarity with renewable energy, government policy, and sustainability (preferred)

EnergySage’s Channel Partnerships team works with a range of different organizations – from corporations like Staples to non-profits like the World Wildlife Fund, utilities like National Grid, towns like the City of Cambridge, and state agencies like the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center – to help educate their audiences about solar by sharing EnergySage’s unbiased solar tools and resources. The team’s work entails both B2B and B2C efforts, including:

  • Recruiting partner organizations via B2B sales and marketing efforts
  • Collaborating with partner organizations to prepare and send B2B2C communications to their audience about solar
  • Evaluating the performance of these efforts
  • Working to grow EnergySage’s reach and impact

The Channel Partnerships team is looking for a summer intern to work full-time during June – August, with the potential to continue part-time during the fall semester. Candidates must be Massachusetts residents or students attending a Massachusetts college/university, per the requirements of the MassCEC Internships program. The position will report to the VP of Strategic Partnerships and will be support the success of partner programming.

Location: Boston, MA (downtown)
Duration: Full-time in summer with potential for part-time through fall semester
Compensation: $12-$20 / hour, based on qualifications
Eligibility: MA resident or student enrolled in MA college / university

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Supporting B2B sales and marketing efforts, such as:
    • Researching potential prospects and ideal contacts
    • Helping to manage the CRM system
    • Initial outreach to potential partner organizations
    • Content writing, editing and management
    • Email writing, execution and analysis
  • Aiding the implementation of consumer communications via partner organizations, by:
    • Planning campaigns and content
    • Collaborating with internal content, design and development teams
    • Preparing and packaging content to share with the partner
  • Evaluating the performance of partner programs, individually and collectively, through analyses on:
    • Traffic to partner program landing pages on EnergySage.com
    • Landing page performance, including click-thru rates and conversion rates

This position is right for you if you:

  • Are a rising senior with a 3.4 GPA or higher
  • Have held a previous internship in a business environment

  • Experience with the HubSpot CRM and/or HubSpot Marketing software
  • Prior internship / work experience supporting B2B clients / partners

The software development team is looking for a bright, enthusiastic, and eager-to-learn intern to help us continue to build the industry-leading online marketplace for solar. You will work in a startup environment where you will expand your skills and get hands-on experience contributing to an active multi-sided web platform.

Location: Boston, MA
Duration: Part-time during school year (10-15 hours/week min.)

Responsibilities

  • Developing and refining executable logic in Python and JavaScript.
  • Developing and refining web pages with HTML & CSS.
  • Participating in code reviews, testing, and bug squashing initiatives.
  • Fielding ad hoc data reporting queries, and implementing tools to facilitate future data reporting.
  • Working with the Head of Product and the developer team to tackle new challenges as they arise.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Undergraduate junior or senior or master's candidate working towards computer science degree or related field
  • Dependable team player with excellent communication skills

  • Comfortable with a start-up environment; ability to wear multiple hats, switch gears quickly and pitch in where needed
  • Experience with at least some of the tools we use:
    • Django or other modern MVC web framework
    • jQuery, JavaScript MVC frameworks, AJAX
    • Elegant, maintainable cross-device HTML and CSS
    • Unit testing, QA, debugging skills
    • SQL databases (MySQL, Postgres)
    • Git or other modern VCS tools
    • REST APIs (consumer & provider; e.g., how much solar power can your roof produce?)

Interns will participate in digital and brand strategy, and will be deeply involved in interaction and screen-based visual design. Responsibilities
