Absolute dumpster fire project management

TL,DR: it took them over one year from contract signing to system working, with multiple delays, having my messages being ignored or not having even who to reach out to, no-shows without prior warning. I've signed a contract with them on 3/7/2023. My project included solar panels, SPAN smart panel, and a battery. At first, they seemed organized, but there was some wait times for materials to arrive and licensing. Installation started on Jun 21st. After rescheduling several times, no-shows with explanations that sounded like excuses, installation was finalized by late Sep. Finally, I got permission to operate from my city on Oct 25th, and by Feb 2024 I still didn't have my system working. The first time my system was fully working, with battery being charged, and excess electricity was on March 2024, 1 year after contract signing. In the end, I don't really trust some of the components they installed (like the Sol Ark alternator), they didn't help me set up the SPAN panel automation nor any monitoring of the alternator, and the technical support will be with them, not with a 3rd party company as states on my only signed contract I followed up through emails, SMSs and calls this entire year (I still have all of this documented). It was a massive headache, they were unprofessional at times, I felt ignored, taken for granted, and I don't recommend this company to a single living soul. Edit: United Electric PNW, in its response, failed to mention that it acquired the company I’ve signed the contract with, and with the acquired company, comes all its liabilities, my contract included. You can’t simply say “it’s not my problem”.

We’re a power plant!

We just finished a big project with United! The meter got hooked up yesterday. My husband and I started working with United in November after the huge wind storm that left us without power for 5 days. Our goal was to be more energy independent during outages and just generally more independent. We not have a 20 panel ground mount system with battery back up. The whole process was wonderful. First, talking to Anders about project goals and ideas. He was so great about taking a big picture idea of energy independence and making it a real-world option. Then, during the actual design phase, Aaron was wonderful about answering my many specific and detailed questions. After the design was finished and the installation was starting, we starting working with Aslan the customer service rep. I cannot tell you how amazing it was to have one point of contact that could take care of all the details, both big and small. Because we had such a large project, there were a lot of people involved, the contractors for the trench, the electricians, the people from SnoPUD, the inspectors, the delivery people. Aslan took care of everything and kept us in the loop. Every time we had an issue, he took care of it. Once, the contractors who filled in the trench weren’t able to finish a section of the brick path. Aslan came by to fix it himself. The whole thing would have been too overwhelming if we didn’t have him. Thank you to the whole United Solar team!

Complete system

We had United Solar install a solar power system at our house and it's performing great. The rooftop panels produce enough power to supply our needs, charge the batteries, and send the excess back to SnoPUD to reduce our electric bill. The batteries store enough power during the day to take care of our nighttime needs. And with the SPAN smart panel and EV charger, we're set for now and the future. There was a challenge getting the Enphase control system and batteries to work with the SPAN smart panel, but in the end United Solar was able to make it all work. The Enlighten app and SPAN app, along with PUD's net meter all show that the system is really working well. United Solar was great to work with from the initial call to the final commissioning.

Friendly, Knowledgable and Quality team

I had been looking at getting a solar + battery system in my house for a few years. I talked to about 5 installers during this time and didn't feel comfortable with any of the bids I had received and had decided I was going to subcontract out the work with my own design. As I was getting ready to design my system I saw that united solar was a newish company that was certified to install sol ark. I contacted united solar and they really knew the ins and outs of all the technical aspects of solar. They were very friendly and spent a lot of time ensuring that I understood how the system would function so that I would not be disappointed - including but not limited to discussing how it would work in a backup with my heat pump, water heater, and any future expansions. I settled on a sol ark 15k, a 6kW DC solar array (will later expand to 19kW through their diy assistance) and a 24kWh battery. The install got off to a rough scheduling start due to a few surprise weather incidents but the work quality is top-notch. Everything passed inspection the first time and it has been operating for a month flawlessly. They have done a great job remaining in contact with me during the process and always are happy to answer my technical questions even if it requires some research. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone and would love to work with them again.

Re-roof and Solar re-configuration

We hired United Solar to re-roof our house. Because we had solar installed previously this meant having to first remove the existing solar panels and then replace them after the roof was finished. We chose United Solar because they could accommodate both tasks as well as the coordination. They were accurate to their estimate and able to fit us in quickly. When it came time to replace the solar panels, they recommended a new configuration they thought would improve our energy production. We appreciate the tip. So far so good!

Power at last!!!

United Solar helped me with so much more than Solar. We are updating our new home (new to us at least, lol) and needed a new breaker box, new wiring, new lighting, and I wanted solar too. United Solar completed the solar project with a Span smart panel installation with their installation partner who also provided all the other electric and wiring work I needed. I was having a hard time finding an electrician that would even show up for an estimate before and the ones that did were nuts on the price I talked to United Solar and had their guys do the inside work that needed to get done, and now my home remodel is almost complete and the solar is producing. Would 100% recommend United Solar especially if you have more home remodeling needs than just solar.
