Matt Brown and Ohio Solar Connection, I would recommend. Matt worked with us on designing the system and selecting components to get a system on terms that work for my family. He was polite, respectful and did not hound me like other providers. After the contract Matt was diligent with follow up, in particular using DocuSign to push through the paperwork. The install team was friendly, quick and unintrusive. It took 2 out of 3 days with a rain day in between. And I don't think it even took more than 4 hours each of the working days. OSC sent a representative to walk the inspector through the installation. That was painless too. Keep in mind you don't get the full benefit of the net metering unit the electric company and installs a new meter, which for me was a day or two after the inspection but relatively quick. Go ahead and see what kind of experience you get with others. OSC will likely be your benchmark. They are local and treat you like your neighbor not just another sale. Now for bonus points. The roofer, with a 4.9 star rating on Google, failed to paint the white stacks black when they put the roof on (which stood out like sore thumbs) and after two months of follow up still had not, Ohio Solar Connection did it no problem as a courtesy to me while installing the solar roof. I had a solar system installed by Ohio Solar Connection about 6 weeks ago. I have waited till now to provide a review so that I could get familiar with the operation and performance and give a measured evaluation. The system consists of solar panels and associated inverters/controller as well as a battery backup system. I can confidently give Ohio Solar Connection the highest marks for their installation. They were patient and honest and transparent during the "selling" process, and professional and thorough in their installation effort. Everything progressed as expected during the install, and involved such things as increasing the service capacity from the utility to 200 amp, installing a new main service panel, running lines from service panel to a sub-panel for ease in separating backed-up circuits from the main line circuits, in addition to various disconnects and equipment additions to support a battery backup. First class preparation, performance, and follow-up. I have just received my first full month's electric bill, and for February in Northern Ohio I am over 60% reduced usage from Ohio Edison compared to a year ago. I have every expectation that I can be break-even on a monthly basis by April's billing, if not March, and generating substantial credit during the summer months. I have had already a couple days of net exporting as opposed to just offsetting partial consumption. I did a lot of research before choosing to do business with Ohio Solar Connection. I feel that I made a sound decision. Only time will tell if that was ultimately a prudent choice, but thus far I like my odds. We would all like to do business with a firm that has been around for a generation or so with a proven track record of performance and warranty service and all those types of parameters. Within the home solar field, not a lot of local businesses can boast of such a resume, so we consumers have to take a bit of a leap of faith. I am very comfortable with the leap that I took in choosing Ohio Solar Connection. We can check back again in say 12 years but I see no reason to believe I'll feel any differently then. I feel the need to point out that I did not receive my quote from Ohio Solar Connection through EnergySage. I don't know the underlying reason why I did not. I appreciate the service that EnergySage is providing to the solar energy market, and the feedback that consumers can give regarding their experiences with various service and equipment providers is valuable for future consumers. Just as with the Better Business Bureau, these types of services can be very useful, but only if they are widely utilized by both consumers and providers.

I have been seeing many articles about unethical sales practices in the market all over the country. Many pop up companies that come and go. This has been hurting the solar industry. I have not had any of those issues with Ohio Solar Connection. I have had my panels for a year now and everything is working perfectly. I have not had to pay an electric bill all year. You can count on them for being professional and trustworthy. They are over an hour away from my location and promoting came to address any issues from the initial start up. Yes, there was a few issues to get it up and running initially, but they addressed those issues immediately over the long distance. Just as with any construction, there can be hurdles but they addressed them professionally and promptly. Don't be afraid of the bad press. Do your research. You will find you can trust Ohio Solar Connection.
