There are a few major companies to be aware of when it comes to ground source heat pumps. As with any major purchase, it’s important to do your research before purchasing, and to speak with qualified contractors to make sure you’re getting the best heat pump for your needs.

American Standard/Trane

American Standard and Trane are sister companies producing many types of home energy and appliance solutions, including ground source heat pumps. When researching contractors, you’ll see that American Standard and Trane dub their certified contractors as Trane Comfort Specialists. Both companies operate under the parent company Ingersoll.

Bosch

Bosch, a producer of myriad home appliance systems, offers several ground source heat pump models, some of which are ENERGY STAR certified. Their Greensource CDi, Si, and i-Series all offer slightly different specs and benefits, and their products in general are some of the most efficient on the market.

Carrier

Carrier, like American Standard/Trane and Bosch, is a well-established manufacturer of many types of home appliances. They offer three lines of residential geothermal heat pumps: the high-end Infinity series, mid-level Performance series, and standard Comfort series. At the upper end, their Infinity geothermal heat pump has an EER rating of up to 32.0 and a COP of up to 4.7 (for closed-loop systems).

Dandelion Energy

A newcomer to the geothermal industry, Dandelion Energy originally started as part of Alphabet, the parent company of Google. Now, having recently raised significant VC funds, the company is well positioned to be the next major player in geothermal heat pump installations. Their main product, the Dandelion Air, comes in four sizes, includes smart monitoring, and comes with a smart thermostat.
