SunnyMac, LLC

SunnyMac did have an attractive offer, as I was directed to them by using the EnergyPal service. My EnergyPal advisor pushed to have proceed with a Site Survey to continue moving forward, while waiting for Tesla to come out and take a look. During this period, we had five companies out to take a look and give us quotes (none of them with a fee - more on this below). With SunnyMac however, they sent over an agreement for a "deposit," which did not say nonrefundable, which was due for the site survey. I spoke with my EnergyPal advisor, Caleb Siu who told me the deposit was only owed, if I had SunnyMac submit permits on my behalf, so I agreed to the site visit. Well, my advisor was wrong. I am now receiving $1250 invoices from SunnyMac for the site survey and for "designing" my system, although I had to tell them exactly where to put all of the panels (based on other companies visits), as their proposed designs (poor computer generated models) were terrible and would have been terribly inefficient. Anyway, do not have anyone come to your home from SunnyMac unless you are 100% certain you are going to go with them, or they will send you a trumped up bill and threaten collections.

Sales person from sunny mac said we could get Solar we are in a blackout zone. Loan went on my credit report and it drops 14 points and no did not get panels as she should have known. Furious is an understatement

Where do I even start? The sales process was easy enough, and I was quoted for a 16.8kw system. Went on my own to compare prices and it was in line with other quotes, so I decided to move forward since the equipment was top notch. Issue 1: Salesperson came back to sign all agreements and I did, without checking all of the fine details (that's my fault). Turns out they are only installing a 15.2kw system, so my price comparisons are no longer valid. If I had been quoted that price at 15.2kw, I would have gone with someone else. Unfortunately I didn't realize this until after the system was installed. Issue 2: I was told by a different company that my electrical panel would need to be upgraded and moved outside to come up to current code standards. When SunnyMac inspected my house, they mentioned it as well. I went ahead and scheduled an electrician to replace it at a cost of $3,000. Worth it to me since the old panel was a fire hazard anyway. Here's the issue, SunnyMac (after my panel was swapped) schedules an installation and part of that includes swapping my panel. Apparently that was included in my cost but nobody told me about it. When I pressed them, they said it wasn't in the line item so they were going to swap it for free anyway (yeah right). They refused to reduce the cost so I basically wasted $3,000. Issue 3: They moved forward with the installation, but my panel had not yet been inspected. I was told that would need to be inspected before they could turn on my panels. Turns out they left them on or turned them on some other time. I started receiving bills from Sunnova, the provider. When I asked about this, they sent someone out to turn them off until they could inspect them. I have already switched to an electric provider with buy back and their consumption rate is higher so I will be paying more out of pocket, along with solar panels that aren't working. This is frustrating. Summary: sneakily changed the quote after I price compared, didn't tell me a new service panel was part of their install so I wasted money doing it with someone else, and turned my panels off after I switched electric providers to a buy back plan which will cost me more money in the long run. I would suggest avoiding them at all costs.

Im not big on writting any review but after getting installed with my panels although the timing was a bit of a stretch. I cant complain, from the beggining to the start everything went very smooth and actually satisfied even after speaking to multiple companies

They are professional and punctual. Easy installation and kept us updated on the plan. I will recommend them to all.

It began with a sudden urge to invest in renewable energy in our new home, and it resulted in a seamless process where I was happy with the result before the work had even begun. Our salesman, Garrett H., was very thorough from the first moment I had reached out to him. He had reached out nearly weekly giving updates on the process prior and during the project. (The project took a few months from start to finish - including a new roof.) Garrett still reaches out periodically to ensure everything is going well and that I am still satisfied with my system. The amount of time, attention to detail, and providing a proper load calculation is what sealed the deal. Many salesman can be pushy, but Garrett had given all the details plain as day with such energy that you could see he is passionate about solar energy, his career, and his product. In the end, I had received everything I could ask for from panel location to aesthetics while maintaining 100% energy offset. The few times I had reached out to their general customer service with questions, I had quickly received answers. (I.e. obtaining further product information to implement into my home automation system) Overall, I am beyond pleased with the process, the product, and the result. I look forward to incorporating a battery backup in the future, and will gladly repeat the process with both Garrett and SunnyMac.
