You'll pay more BEFORE u have solar

I never leave any review in my entire life, but I felt it's my duty to do so to save someone paying over 40 grand. My electric bill almost doubled in the last 2 months, and come to find out our system hasn't been working since April. I called their customer service and they basically said that they don't have any reimbursement program and that checking if the system is working is a "shared" responsibility. When we signed the contract they guarantee monitoring for 10 years, it's even posted on their website!!! That was the selling point for us as first time solar owners.. so I'll be paying another $120 this month for the loan on top of my $500 bill, and they can't even get a rep out til 2 weeks from now to check the system. And without the reimbursement program, I'm losing money everyday. Beware

Not satisfied and tired of the apologies!

I had a house fire in March 2024 and I immediately communicated with SunPower. I opened a ticket in April 2024, and I have called almost daily to get someone to give me a quote for uninstall and reinstall. I still get nothing but excuses and apologies. I have explained the stress this fire has caused me and still they apologize, give excuses and often are passive and even unprofessional. At one point they attempted to get a company that was not my agent to do the work. They told me the company was not available or returning call but they attempted at NO other options. Here I sit ready for the contractor to get started and I am being held at SunPower’s mercy. I wish there was someone that could help me. Do your home and read the reviews before signing! Gloria

Buyer beware

Our solar system came with our new house and is guaranteed. This past November the system stopped working. We called SunPower and a repairman was sent out. He determined that our inverter was bad and needed replacement. From that point on this has been a nightmare. The inverter was “on back order.” Repeated contact with customer service representatives could provide no real information or updates. A complaint in January to the Better Business Bureau led to the assignment of an “Escalation Specialist” who has communicated poorly if at all, not provided updates when promised and done nothing to solve the issue. This week we finally replaced the inverter ourselves. It took us one week from start of order to delivery of the inverter. SunPower is still saying the issue is the inverter is back ordered. This is the worst service we have ever experienced and a giant runaround. If a company does not honor their warranty they are worthless. Addition to review as of May 5th. As per instructions I contacted Customer Service and spoke to yet another representative who said she would follow up with the Escalation Specialist. She did get back to me to tell me she had not received a call back from the ES, that things were being reviewed and I would hear from them. As of now nothing.

Still waiting after almost 6 months...

Everything started off great. There was a bit of trouble in trying to figure out the appropriate size of the system to cover the summertime costs in Arizona. The system was installed in October/November and actually turned on November 20, 2023 so the jury is still out on the actual summertime performance. Thus far, the system does outproduce the grid. The panels seem OK from what I can tell, I've not have any issues with the equipment, or production so far. The main issues I have, is that all the roofing tiles that were removed to install the mounts were left up on the roof in a flat area only covered by some rolled roofing. I later learned that area is called a "Dead Valley"; the slope is so minimal that only the rolled roofing is used to direct the water off the roof. The builder told me that the removed roofing tiles (cement) should not be stored there and recommended they be removed. In addition I found a broken ridge-cap tile, and a few of the sub-panels were not installed level, which might not be an issue for some, but it really bothers me that someone can't install these things "LEVEL". Chalk it up to OCD if you want. I've been asking for almost 6 months now for them to come back out and bring the tiles down from the roof and level out the crooked panels; I keep getting told they are going to get someone out to take care of it, but no one ever shows up and no followup for rescheduling or ??? I chose this company in part, that I have one point of contact for all issues. However, at this point I am dreading the day I do have an issue, as I am afraid they will not show up!

HORRIBLE STAY AWAY!

Long story short, our solar-panels were installed in January, but have not been approved by the city yet, but since they have been installed, we have had a spike in our IID bill ridiculously high!!! Being that they shouldn't be operating. Our "REP" Jason has never reached out to try and fix the problem it's RIDICULOUS! I had the IID come and check my meter thinking there could be something wrong with it, but everything is working fine, it seems that they left the panels ON, and since the bidirectional meter isn't installed yet, my regular meter is reading this information as energy spent! They are EAGER for us to connect and continue with the installation, and that's all they care about! Not once have they tried to address our concerns or even suggest a reimbursement!!! OF COURSE I WILL NOT BE REFERRING SUNPOWER TO ANYONE!!!

My Solar Installation Process Review

This review outlines my journey from initial contact with my sales representative on November 14, 2023, to receiving Permission to Operate (PTO) on March 26, 2024. Overall, my experience throughout this process was largely positive, although there were some challenges encountered along the way. Jim Spillane, my sales representative, was exceptional. He presented himself professionally during the initial meeting and instilled trust from the start. There was no pressure to make an immediate purchase decision regarding the Solar System; instead, he provided the information I needed to make an informed choice. I highly recommend that anyone considering a solar system conducts thorough research and understands key aspects such as value, reliability, and warranty before engaging with a solar company. My Project Coordinator, Chelsea, was also outstanding. She kept me updated throughout the entire process and promptly addressed all my inquiries. The installation crew was friendly and respectful of my property. However, there was a setback when we initially failed the county inspection. The crew lacked a clear understanding of how to rectify the issue, resulting in a delay of one month to reschedule the inspection, which then failed again. It was only after I personally attended the inspection and questioned the inspector that we discovered a simple solution: derating the breaker to a 175amp breaker. Frustrated by the delay, I requested an electrician to address the issue immediately, which was resolved the same day. Three days later, we successfully passed the county inspection. It was disappointing that the installation crew's lack of expertise caused such a significant delay in the process. The panels are now working and producing energy and everything seems to be working properly.
