Boston Solar

Boston Solar is excellent at sales. Unfortunately, for us that's where the excellence stopped. We're your average EV family, so solar seemed like a reasonable next step. We met with several companies, but we were impressed by Boston Solar's commitment to customer service, so we decided to spend a little more so we wouldn't have any headaches. Needless to say, it was alllll headaches. We had issues with the meter placement (they were going to leave it on the back of the house, but I asked to move it to the side), extra visits to review it, and then the install crew showed up and had no idea any of the previous 2 months of communication (and permitting?!) had happened. Oh, and they thought the meter (the 2 months of planning meter) needed to be moved to the front of the house due to building code. Which never came up previously?! Well, at least the panic attack woke me right up! Finally, it was settled that we were allowed by the grace of the Building Inspector and the Install Manager to put the meter where we'd been expecting? And talking about all along? And the front of the house was never even previously discussed? Yay! So, we (after confirming placement AGAIN) leave them to it. Don't do that, it's a rookie mistake. They installed the meter (and the other 4 or 5 big ugly boxes) muuuuch higher than we'd discussed. My husband noted it during the walkthrough, or whatever it's called, and the installer said it was required by code? Well, what's done is done, let's just move on and all that. Which I absolutely would have and wanted to, but that was just the beginning! Following the completed installation (according to their billing, at least!

5 years ago BS installed my system, nothing but good for 4 years, no problems, but lately having problems and theres no one to help us, how about customer service folks, days go by and the system is pouring electricity into the grid but my system registers 0, and BS, good initials, neglects to return my call, HELP is a 4 letter word @ BS

I was referred to Boston Solar by my t-shirt. We had been seriously considering solar and had a few interviews with companies and I just didn’t have a good feeling from them. Then I noticed that Boston Solar was a sponsor for a 5K race I ran in my small home town and figured if they cared enough to sponsor our tiny charity race then I should do some research and give them a call. The reviews were good and we set up a meeting with their solar consultant. We met over Zoom due to the pandemic and it was fantastic. I hope they continue the Zoom option because it was a lot more low pressure than the in person meetings. Rick was our consultant and it didn’t feel like a sales pitch at all. It was all about problem solving. He had a plot of our house ready to go and put together a rough outline of how everything would look, went over the cost, the ROI, the incentives, and so on. Everything that we went over in terms of cost and array size lined up with the research that we had done on Project Sunroof and meeting with other companies so that was reassuring. We knew we wanted solar but we wanted to find the right company to do the work. I think the tipping point for us was the fact that Boston Solar does everything in house, they have no subcontractors and everyone you work with is employed directly by Boston Solar. Many of the other companies use subcontractors and I was concerned I might have the “lowest bidder” putting holes through my roof. Once we signed the contract we were assigned a coordinator Olivia who guided us through the process and who answered our emails and questions often within the hour. The installation took 2 days with supports/conduit being run on day 1 and the panels installed on day 2. I spoke with the foreman and the electrician and they were really knowledgeable and answered my questions about future projects. We may want to add an electric car charger and more panels someday in the future to support the increased demand. They also worked with us to make a change to the plan as once they were on site they saw a better way to run the equipment than originally planned. I also appreciated how Boston Solar treated their team. The installation was in the summer and it was a hot day on a hotter roof and I noted that they were cycling people out, giving breaks, and drinking lots of water. It’s the right thing to do for people’s health and beneficial to the homeowner, if you are tired you are more likely to make mistakes. The day after installation we had torrential rains which was a good test as we observed zero leaks to the roof. The project passed inspection without issue, national grid swapped out meter, and we just turned the system on and are producing power. We are really happy with our decision to install a solar array. It will save us a significant amount of money long term while helping our community by taking demand off the grid and generating renewable energy. I had Boston Solar out to my home and their Representative Paul was so professional, knowledgeable and genuinely cared for our best interests. We moved forward and we're extremely happy. From Paul to the electrician, Install team, commissioner and all involved in the process were professional and they did an outstanding job. I highly recommend them.

Boston solar is hands down one of the best solar companies in Mass. I met with Paul in my home prior to COVID, and he was fantastic. He made it simple and easy to understand, my husband and I had a laundry list of questions and he clearly and simply answered them all!! Highly recommend BOSTON SOLAR

Based on the great reviews of Boston Solar I contacted them. Their representative made 2 house visits; he was punctual, courteous and professional. Boston Solar's proposal was competitive and I accepted. The customer service representative contacted me for procedure and scheduling; all good. A team of electricians then arrived to make sure my wiring/breaker boxes were ready to proceed. The electricians went far beyond the extra mile to prepare my wiring and kept me informed every step of the way. The install crew did an incredible job, again allowing me to observe while explaining their procedure. They were organized, with each member knowing their duties. The electrical inspection and meter upgrade are forthcoming but I have no doubts about approval. Thank you Boston Solar for a job well done and for your courtesy and professionalism!
