Corey was so patient with all my questions and always responded quickly. Too many names to mention ,Asmi to the installation crew did a fantastic job. Thank you.
Update: Ace Solar found out they had installed the wrong gauge of wire, misconnected the batteries, and more. After a year they finally sent someone out. The system still not working, but if you buy batteries from Ace Solar, you can expect a year to get them working. Their operations voicemail is full, indicative of their commitment to their customers. Read the reviews, a year to get back to the customer. Also note, all the new reviews on the same day, nothing for years, now multiple in the same week. Original post Worked with Ace Solar to get a full system installed. PV and Batteries. Their sales team was top notch and a league above the other teams. Solar installation was mostly painless, but due to battery shortage at the time, my system was installed over 2 years. The installation of the batteries happened in the second year, and we were off to the races. The problem is "service". Getting a response from ACE post-installation doesn't happen. My batteries failed within 2 months (right before summer, the key time for batteries) and it took the whole summer to get them working. 2 months between responses is NORMAL for the service manager. Expect amazing sales service, but follow-up service is spotty. Expect to have to monitor your system, and push constantly to get it fixed. Update: Batteries failed again at the 1-year mark. Seems 1 battery charges, and discharges, and the other battery is only charged if the first one hit max. So the 2nd battery isn't always being charged. Then there is something new about batteries not performing in cold weather is the cause. They chose the installation location, and sourced the batteries. Response to Ace Solar: A site visit was scheduled, after discussing it for the past months. Yes, for the past 7 months, I have been chasing the current issue. Which was after the previous 7 months when the batteries didn't work. That means since installation there have been 2 months with no problems. Equally frustrated means 2 months of no response, constant "we thought it was all fixed", and "you don't understand how the system works". There are no faults, but the system doesn't work 6 hours a day. So you say it is working. You don't see faults, but the system limits the charge/discharge rate. You say the system works, but on the first "power outage" the system failed. So no faults, just not working. So Solar Edge says talk to Ace Solar, Ace Solar says talk to Solar Edge, the customer success person disappears for 2+ months, and all the time Ace Solar says 'well the PV system is working". The Recent "firmware" change that I had to call Solar Edge to get done, as Ace Solar was "unavailable" per normal. "work with manufacture", yes, 14 months since installation, 1 lost summer of connected solutions, 1 poor winter of battery use, with a failure on the battery back up and we may have someone out soon. What Ace Solar Claims is "no faults" because the system has failed.
Ace Solar has been wonderful for both our residences, one we rent the panels and the other we own all our panels. The company is amazing and so helpful with getting the financing done and also an amazing discount on getting the first homes roof replaced. Our representative Cory M was always available to answer any questions and even after several years he still answers my calls or text should I ever need to reach out to them. Again a great company all around! Bernadette Flanagan
Deano from ACE explained the pros and cons of lease vs buy at our initial consultation. He also explained all the incentives from federal, state and SREC sources. We choose to buy. He also explained the system components and what we could expect for reliability and warranty. We ultimately settled on a 5.6 KW system that is a bit larger than our current needs , but we will likely grow into it after we retire and a plug-n hybrid car is almost certainly in our future. The installation was professionally done and has been trouble free since it was turned on. We asked for some small changes to the layout to allow me better access to the roof and Deano was totally accommodating. I like to keep my house at a comfortable temp in warmer weather and I am very confident that I will never have an electric bill again at my current usage including air conditioning loads. ACE did a site evaluation and were honest with me in that my site is not 100% optimal, but still well within the range of a good payback. So far, everything they said I could expect from this system has held true. I would recommend ACE Solar without any reservation, and if I were to move locally and wanted a solar system installed, they would be my only call.
I am currently the sales manager here at ACE Solar, but also a 4 year customer of an excellent residential solar installation. I have an older, post & beam home which our engineers found a thoughtful solution for. The clean lines of the layout and overall aesthetic from the ground, have helped in recommending ACE Solar to other family and friends over the years. Looking forward to the next 4+ years as a happy customer. We also have our own ACE Solar app now where new customers can monitor their system, submit and track referrals and even message us via the chat feature. Free download for anyone
I found that Corey was an excellent source of information around installing a system that exceeds the current 10kW cap for residential. He understands the current workings of the solar industry and was able to converse easily between the DC and AC performance of the various system configurations. He was very responsive and was helpful in getting a roofer involved in the process. His pricing was extremely competitive for both string and micro-inverter configurations.
