Trust A Lot would be a great name for this company.
That is the experience we felt working with John.
He was on time, responsive, informed, patient... he answered all the questions we had, big and small, with respect. We never felt he was trying to "sell" us something which was not our experience with other companies. Also, the installation went exactly as planned.
In general, customer service feels like a dying art these days, but John brings it all back! A year later when we were having trouble reading the panels due to wifi issues, he quickly came over, suggested we get an extender and then WENT AND GOT IT FOR US, as well as helped install it.
John really stands behind his work.
And, after a full year of having our panels, the electric bill was only $3.
We canʻt recommend Save a Lot Solar enough.
I really didn't expect much from a company whose name implies a bargain, but I was wrong. John Orfali and his employees were efficient, communicative and professional. I didn't want to see the panels from the street so he made sure that to use high efficiency panels only on one side of the house. They even adjusted them further so they didn't show at all. So far so good!
We wanted to go with a locally owned small business for our solar and it worked out great. The service was personal and hands on. We had a lot of questions and they were all answered. And now we're producing clean and green electricity for our house and new EV, which feels great.
from the estimate, to the actual installation, to the inspection and follow-up, the work was flawlessly easy and smooth. The cost was reasonable (as compared to other installers). They were considerate and through with the installation. The cherry on top was the inspection. I was out of town and the inspector needed to see a smoke alarm in a bedroom. John Orfali installed it and did not bill me. Since the original work, I had four more panels installed and have referred all my friends. The company has new fangled tech but old fashioned professionalism and integrity.
The Save a Lot Solar crew was terrific from beginning to end. They offered a clear and easy to understand proposal, patiently answered all of my questions, and communicated clearly throughout the process. And all of that at a very fair price. I highly recommend Save a Lot Solar.
What a positive experience this turned out to be. We are very pleased with the job that Save a Lot Solar did for us.
We interviewed three providers this in September, 2017.
All three bids were very close and were consistent with what we expected in terms of cost, system size and components. John Orfali's presentation was the best of the three. He answered our questions patiently and in a timely fashion. Like the other companies, Save a Lot Solar uses quality components. And, John while always being business-like, is a really nice man.
Another positive about John was how well he guided us through the steps and paperwork we had to do. He got things going with PG&E and Berkeley as soon as we signed the contract with Save a Lot Solar rather than waiting until it was installed.
We wanted to get the system installed before the end of the year and John was able to fit in into his schedule for the middle of December (it was a busy time for solar installers as tariffs were looming).
His team came out and were done in 2 days. Nice guys and they did a very neat job. Needless to say, the system passed the city's inspection with no trouble.
It took about two weeks for PG&E to process things and our system started working a few days before the end of 2017.
As I write this in March, 2019, It's been over a year since then and recently we received a true up bill from PG&E (this is how it works - you get billed a monthly charge of about $10 for connection to PG&E, but usage is billed once a year). We owed them 13 cents. John Orfali's estimate of our monthly cost was spot on. Amazing.
The system has performed with no serious problems. The only one is that the Enphase unit that reports system performance data to the cloud has disconnected from our wireless network occasionally and Save a Lot Solar came out right away to check it out. This in no way affects the actual performance of the system, so it's a minor nuisance.
What else can I say? Highest recommendation.
I have used Save a Lot Solar 3 times to both install new systems and replace and upgrade older systems. It is nice to have somebody that I can go back to and feel I will be treated well. I have used two other solar companies in the past and they no longer exist. It is nice to have Save A Lot solar still in business and somebody that I can trust for upgrades in the future.
We are very pleased with the system that Save-a-lot-solar installed for us. Great service and response!
John and his crew were super. The installation was quick & clean. System performs perfectly. Other contractors told me my tar and gravel roof could not accommodate solar. John assured me it would and he proved them wrong. He did not try to oversell me. I also especially appreciate the modular design of the system. If any panel ever malfunctions, all the others will continue to generate energy. My typical bill is now under $20, which includes gas and PG&E's connection fee.
I had the opportunity to work with Mr. Orfali and his crew for the installation of my solar panels. He priced the panels and installation. It was very reasonable. We were very pleased with all steps of the process. His crew showed up, on-time and completed the work efficiently. It was a November installation and we were worried about the rain. Mr. Orfali was reassuring and always in contact to update our work. When the installation was completed, he finished the licensing process/paperwork with the city. Further, he followed up to make sure we had the proper paperwork for our tax deduction and tax preparer. Everything went smoothly and I highly recommend Save-A-Lot-Solar.
John has an office in the neighborhood. He came out promptly, We wanted to add more panels to our existing system. We discussed location, options, costs. He had a proposal back, I think in 24 hours, and it was scheduled and installed a few weeks later. I had a followup question several months later about the power panel, and John came out and answered my questions, without charging.
