Solar Connection Inc.

We treat our clients the way we want our contractors to treat us:

We have the expertise to deliver on each project.
We are honest and reliable.
Because we love what we do, our clients have a good time, too.

We are easy to get a hold of via phone, text or email. (Drop by our office and we’ll give you a beer and a tour!) We are sticklers about maintaining a clean work site throughout the installation, and all of our solar installers have experience in general construction and roofing, so they know how to respect your roof.

In short, we take pride in what we do, so expect excellence. We know that despite the long-term savings, solar’s up-front cost can be an obstacle, so we do whatever we can to make the system affordable and attainable. From proposal to completion, we give attention to detail every step of the way.

Solar Education demonstration site

Solar Connection worked with us to install 26 panels on our new educational building at our Nature Center. From the beginning it was clear they knew their stuff. All along the way they helped us to understand how the system would work and how to maximize production to meet our needs. In addition they were more than willing to provide training to our education staff so that they could better incorporate the this active solar component of our new green building into their curriculum. We were very pleased with Solar Connections.

Beyond our expectations!

Solar Connections installed a roof top system at our residence in March 2015. Their bid was competitive, the work was done on schedule by a thoughtful crew. The installation on our detached garage and all connections were well executed with minimal disruption to lawn for trenching to house. The system has operated essentially without maintenance ever since. I did inadvertently disconnect the web based monitoring system from my home Wi-Fi 18 months after installation and the team was right out to help me reconnect.

14.5 KW battery backed up system

In 2017 we sent out a bid for doing a solar install at our place to 4 vendors: one in the cities and 3 in/near Olmsted county. Of the 4, only the cities one and Solar Connection had experience in battery backed up systems, and the cities one was on bleeding edge tech and charged for it. Curt uses more proven tech at lower price points, takes a great amount of time to explain the process and funding options. One thing I should have been more clear early in the process about our prime design goals. Curt was going for a nice balance of battery backup and keeping the $/Watt low. Our family, however, having suffered multiple outages per year were more concerned with ultimate reliability and redundancy (which means duplicate parts on-site). So, part way through the build we asked for a design change which cost time and money. So my advice is get as far into the weeds as you can and review the final schematics before ordering the parts. But the result is a very clean Outback system and we've been super happy with it. Now if only the sun would shine ;-) http://www.energysage.com/?rc=e1.kbnag3

Installed in 2012; still going strong

I had a 6.24 kW array installed in 2012. Obviously costs and technology have changed since then, but my array is still performing as designed. No major issues and Curt and team have always been responsive. I friend just used Solar Connections to install a 8 kW array and also had a good experience. Also important to me, this is a locally owned and operated Rochester company.
