Having already installed a 40 panel array 8 years ago, I found that we had grown way beyond the limits of its generation and wanted to double our output. I already knew what we needed but wished to have an onsite review to ensure that it was possible to add-on an additional 8 kwh array connecting to our original installation. Fortunately, only by getting a referral to Chris at Kingdom Solar, was I able to have an on site person come who was knowledgeable about installations instead of just a sales rep. saying they would get with their engineers to see what was possible. I have a ground mount installation and most companies are just dealing with roof installations so this was a frustrating search until I found Chris.
After some discussion we decided to replace the original 216 w Sharp panels with 400 w LG saving considerable material and manpower. Now I am blasting power back to the grid. Chris and his team were professional in their approach and workmanship. He was able and willing to find good solutions to our energy needs and at a much better price structure than the other companies that send me proposals.
I hope to refer many friends and neighbors to his company in the future.
Chris was great! He was very responsive to every email and call (even when I disappeared for awhile), and he got the system installed within one week of signing the contract. Seems to be working great, and it was a pleasure working with Chris! Highly recommended!
Chris took on an unusual, complex job adding to our existing solar system which no one else could do and did it beautifully. He and his crew couldn't have been more professional from planning, permitting, through to completion. My husband, who is partially disabled, was going to do the carpentry needed after the job was finished and Chris stayed and helped him with it. When I needed help with information needed for our residential storage battery installation, Chris spent time on the phone with me, as well as coming out and advising me on an existing solar system on a rental home. He has monitored our system, contacted us when there was a problem, and came out right away to make the repair. You won't find anyone better.
Chris and his team exceeded my expectations from beginning to end. I got several estimates and they were all very close in price. I was only looking for top of the line products so there was not much wiggle room in pricing. In the end, I went with Chris because he was very responsive(and patient) to every call and question. I have a very steep, slate roof... a very difficult installation. They did an excellent job and kept me informed the entire way. Chris took care of all PG&E paperwork and even set up my online app account so I can now watch the energy I am producing.
I met Chris after I had talked to 11 different solar companies. He offered me world class equipment at the most competitive price of any company. He gave me no pressure to make a decision on his offer and waited for me to make up my mind.
When I finally decided to go w Kingdom Solar, Chris instantly jumped into action and we were able to get the panels installed and working within weeks of agreement. His crew installed the panels quickly over days, leaving no mess behind. They did a great job visually installing all parts of the system (cosmetic and functional parts); and I know he would've came back and fixed anything I would've been unhappy with.
I have had the panels for 7 months now and I am completely satisfied. Chris was honest, friendly, and a skilled professional. I will be recommending him to anyone that is looking for solar installation.
From the first time I met Chris I knew that he is a person I can do business with. Old school, no nonsense kind of guy where his words and a hand shake is all we need. Chris listened to what I want, “best components and proper installation. Not looking for the lowest bid,” and delivered. Being a blue collar guy myself who works with my hands for a living, I can appreciate quality work. From the moment that Chris and his installers showed up, I knew I didn’t have to stand behind their back and watch over the work for it to be done right. Apparently Chris hired people just like himself, old school and take ownership of what they do. I got what I paid for and this solar install was one of the best home improvement experiences I had.
I had 9 different quotes for my solar system last fall. Out of the 9 only 3 companies took the time to come on site and look at the shade issues surrounding my home ( 9 redwood trees, fruitless mulberry tree etc) . Solar Kingdom does their own installation and does not sub out their work. I was given a great quote thousands less than other quotes promising way more than they could achieve with my shade issues. The owner Chris Paredes was honest and spot on the system was installed in 2 days and we were permitted and running in 8 days. Kudos for the honesty and research !
Chris and his crew are top notch. My house was more difficult than most but they went above and beyond and made it perfect and they stuck to their original quote. I actually feel like my roof is in better condition after they installed the solar than before!
Chris did a fantastic job installing our solar systems. We had a tricky project - a 2 unit condo with 2 separate meters. And solar was the last phase of a big project -- we couldn't have the solar permit open for long because doing so would have held up our certificate of occupancy -- so we needed Kingdom to keep the solar permit open for as short a time as possible. Chris listened to all of these concerns and managed the project accordingly. He actually was able to get the inspection date moved up and completed ahead of our very tight schedule -- we got our Certificate of Occupancy on time. The system itself is working great so far. Chris took care of everything - monitoring system, PG&E interconnection, permit closeout. I never had to ask twice for anything. Also, I'm in the solar business, which means I was pretty picky in choosing Kingdom. I also wanted to influence the design, solar module selection, and other details. Chris listened to all of my input and he actually took it all into account and delivered true to his word on everything. Chris' crew is also top notch -- they were attentive to detail, clean, considerate, and safe. I highly recommend Kingdom Solar for installation on your home!
Chris and his whole crew deserve an A+!
Chris came highly recommended by another highly rated solar installer. I had a bid from a large company so I had done some research and had some idea of what I wanted before I talked to Chris. What first impressed me about Chris is that he actually listened and met me where I was instead of explaining things I already knew. He answered all of my questions and gave me a lot of information throughout the process. Another thing I liked was that he was not a salesman at all. He gave me information and encouraged me to do my own research and make my own decisions. He also was honest about the little hassles, like that it could take a while before the city inspector would come out and that I'd have a pipe coming down the side of my house. I got a few more bids but Kingdom Solar's was the best and I felt Chris was one of the most straightforward people I'd ever worked with. The installation was super smooth. Chris came for the beginning and stayed in touch throughout. His guys were super nice too. They spent quite a while helping me decide where to put that pipe going down the side of my house and showed me all of the options before I ended up going with what they had recommended in the first place. I've had my system since September and Chris has responded very quickly with the couple of questions I've had since then. I highly recommend Kingdom Solar.
Chris from Kingdom Solar is a true professional. He installed our system 1 year ago and it has been working perfectly. The installation crew did a fantastic job and it was very evident they took pride in their work. Chris and crew were always on time and kept us informed at all times. I hardly had to do anything (other than sign the contract), Chris handled everything else. He arranged everything with PG&E and the city. I would whole heartedly recommend Kingdom Solar knowing that he would install your system with the same care and attention that he displayed with ours.
Chris was very professional and the quote he gave us was more than fair and beat out the other 4 contractors that I had received quotes on. He and his workers Jason and John did a great job of installing our solar panels. I would highly recommend him and his team to others looking for a solar solution at a great cost. I also had 2 LG batteries installed and Chris and his team handled the permits, drawings and did the external wall modifications to the frame to make sure the external wall could handle the added weight of the batteries. Inspection past on first attempt and my house can now run off stored energy at night that I get from my solar panels during the day time.
Chris came highly recommended, and did a great job explaining equipment options and the finer points of going solar. He provided tons of valuable information accompanying his bid. He and his crew worked competently and efficiently, we hardly knew they were there. And took whatever time was necessary to explain the setup and what to expect after installation was completed. The bottom line is we got a high quality system at competitive pricing with expert installation and service. I can highly recommend Kingdom Solar without reservation...5 Stars!
I have been a little slow to post this review but was reminded that I had promised one in a follow up email I received from Chris Paredes, owner of Kingdom Solar, in which he was checking up on how I thought, our system was working.
After receiving quotes from 2 Solar contractors, we were referred to Kingdom Solar by a relative. My initial contact was through Kingdom Solar's WEB Site (https://kingdomsolar.com) where I submitted a request for a bid which was received in less than 24 hours and more detailed than others I had received. Plus, their price was lower that the other bids and the design was to produce more energy and more closely matched our usage. My initial contact with Chris Paredes, owner of Kingdom Solar, was via a phone call where we discussed the bid and what steps we needed to go through if we accepted his bid. An on-site visit was scheduled where we again discussed what needed to be done to install solar on our home. Once we accepted Kingdom Solar's Bid, a date and time were scheduled for the install.
The workers that came to install our system were very prompt, cordial, friendly and respectful of our property. They, also, spent time explaining the installation process and what each change to our electrical service was for, how it worked and why we needed it. Once the system had been installed, it passed inspection by Union City's Building Department and Chris completed the necessary PG&E paperwork that got us approval and permission to connect to PG&E's Power Grid.
Our system has been working efficiently and has generated power every day since it was installed in September 2018. It has cut the amount of power we pull from the grid each month by about 1/3rd, which is expected during the fall and winter months, and we look forward to seeing how much energy it will generate during spring and summer.
Since system was installed, Chris has followed up, several times, to make sure everything was working as we expected and to answer any questions that we may have had. To us this is excellent customer service.
To make a long story short - very happy with Chris and his Kingdom Solar.
This project took a long time to research, and there were a lot of options to wrap my brain around, and a lot of vendors to consider. I ended up contacted about nine, talking directly to four, and chose Kingdom Solar at the end because of their competitive pricing, and Chris Paredes' personable approach of a professional who clearly knew what he was talking about.
For the successful solar panels installation, there are three main components to consider:
Chris came across as an expert on all three. He is a roofer by trade; worked for a large Solar company before opening his own business; and upon coming to my house for the first time, he immediately assessed the electrical situation while getting familiar with the existing panels and layout.
The installation process itself was made very easy on me, for which I am very grateful. I was promised a 3-day installation, and this is what I got. By the early afternoon of the 3rd day my panels were fully operational, and the crew was gone, leaving no mess behind. Whatever problems they have encountered during the course the installation, they dealt with them without involving me. Quick, neat and efficient - all I could ask for.
At the moment, it has been one year since the panels were installed, and the annual output was very close to the first year projections with the small delta in my favor. The dealings with PG&E also went smoothly.
During the past year I had few issues with the performance of the converter, but each time Chris came back and took care of the situation by either making the necessary adjustment, or dealing directly with the converter manufacturer.
So far, I have been extremely happy with Kingdom Solar and with Chris personally, and I certainly recommend this local company to anyone considering purchasing the solar panels.
One more piece of advice - Chris does not offer the lease option, or his own financing, so you should be ready to purchase/finance using your own means. While in the beginning it felt like a disadvantage, I quickly realized that on the long run this saved me some $$ by a) forcing me to find the optimal (cheapest) financing solution, and b) by not adding any overhead, allowing Chris to keep his prices on a very competitive level.
A+ from start to finish. Chris was recommended by a friend who had had a good experience with his installation. Chris earned our trust the old-fashioned way - by being honest, and responsive to our questions. He also had the most competitive bid.
He and his team were consistently professional, from start to finish. Whereas other companies committed to "get the job done sometime in the next 6-9 months," Chris had us up and running in a matter of weeks. We are now reaping the benefits of solar to keep our bills affordable, and predictable for years to come.
Another happy customer. Great communications, super easy to work with, timely, and very professional installation, pleasant crew who happily explained things to me. Reasonable price--I didn't get competing bids, because Chris was recommended to me; I liked my interaction with him, and I kind of hate abusing people getting so many bids. I Googled Bay Area solar cost per watt average (five minutes), and also saw that Chris's proposed panels were better than average (five minutes), so I knew what was reasonable to pay and we came to an agreement that was below average (one minute). We had 11-y.o. solar panels on our Oakland, CA home but wanted to add more after getting a second electric car. We upgraded the old inverter and added 11 more panels on a new string with its own inverter and optimizers, more than doubling the production. It's been a week since install and those new panels are kicking butt up there in the sun--woohoo!
My goal was not to get ripped off and know that the installer would use the best equipment while providing a high quality installation. Because of this, I started educating myself on what a great solar install looked like and what was a competitive offer before I started interviewing installers and collecting solar bids.
I only hire companies if people have great things to say about them. Because of this, I contacted some companies that had great yelp reviews and chose to see what they offered. Kingdom Solar was one of these companies. I asked for a quote on their website and shortly after, I was contracted by Chris (the owner). My initial impression of Chis was a good one. He noticed that I seemed educated and asked if I had an idea of what I wanted. I told him what I was looking for and he made some recommendations. I told him I would look into his recommendations. (Spoiler: He was spot on in his recommendation according to my research) He designed my system using his computer while I was on the phone with him and then sent me an email proposal/quote. Based on my research, I thought the quote was priced fairly, but I had nothing to compare it to yet. All I knew is that Chris offered the best equipment, a great solar design on the roof, and seemed like he would be really great to deal with.
Later that week, I had a few more quotes from other companies. They were significantly more expensive and used lower end equipment. I was shocked considering these companies had many 5 star reviews. One of those companies wanted to place the panels on the east side of my roof (when it is common knowledge that the west side is superior). Another, (medium sized company with hundreds of 5 star reviews) quoted an inverter that wouldn't handle the size of my solar array and would end up clipping power (they apologized when I called them out on it and then quoted the proper inverter at a significant price increase). It blows my mind considering that most people wouldn't be educated enough to know this information and that the trust the solar company to quote the correct equipment for a particular job.
I emailed Chris because I wanted some items changed on my quote. I received a call from him within minutes and we had a fantastic conversation. After sending me an updated quote, I told him that I may be interested. He was not pushy at all and informed me that the next step was an on-site survey. I scheduled one for that weekend.
Chris came by that weekend (on time) and checked out my electrical panel. I asked him some difficult questions to test his knowledge on solar (He passed). Lastly, he got on my roof, took measurements, and ensured that his software was accurate in panel placement design. I shared a few concerns I had regarding installation. My roof is only 2 years old and I wanted to make sure my roof penetrations were properly waterproofed. In fact, the thought of having people walk on my costly and fragile concrete roof had my stomach turning. He addressed my concerns and went above and beyond by agreeing to install using the methods I had wanted. He still was not pushy and told me to contact him if I had anymore questions and then left.
Later that week, I signed. Installation day came shortly afterwords. Chris and his crew were on time for the installation. Chris briefed them on the job and reviewed the plans. I got met each person working on the job and they got started. I'm a picky homeowner and wanted things done a certain way. I was there monitoring the job the entire time and the crew was fantastic making any accommodations I requested. They did attic work, so no conduct is visible on the roof and painted any exposed conduit so it blends into the background. I was in the attic while they were doing the work, it was very detailed. Chris's crew definitely takes pride in their job. In fact, I am super happy to say that out of everyone in our neighborhood, I have the BEST looking solar install.
The system was installed and inspection came two days later. The Tracy inspector RAVED about how good the job on the roof was done. Chris joked around and said he was happy that the homeowner (me) was around to hear that. The inspector turned to me, looked me straight into the eye, and told me he wasn't paying lip service and that most installers are not that detailed on the roof. BOY - Was I happy to hear that!!
In summary - if your looking for an extremely high quality solar installation, with the best equipment available for the best price, and probably the best and most flexible installation crew - contact Kingdom Solar. I can continue to go on and on, but this review is already long. I usually don't do this - but if your thinking about Kingdom Solar, but there is any doubt in your mind - feel free to send me a message asking any questions regarding my experience with Chris and his install crew. I'm so happy with my install, I'd be glad to answer any questions regarding my experience.
We hired Chris and Kingdom Solar to install panels on our flat, tar-and-gravel roof. From our first meeting, Chris was informative, professional and attentive. Pricing was competitive, installation was thorough but quick, and Chris took care of all of the details with the permitting office, panel manufacturer (registering the panels for warranty), and setting up our production monitoring system. He even made a special trip to the permitting office on our behalf for another project. I can't recommend Kingdom Solar highly enough!
