About Icon Power

Overview

Icon Power is a Tempe based residential solar and battery contractor serving Arizona, Nevada, and Texas, and one of the largest Tesla Powerwall dealers in the Southwest. We have been installing since 2017 and run our own design, permitting, electrical, roofing, and service crews. We do not subcontract your project out. That means one point of contact from the first quote through the life of your system, and a real service department years after the install.

We install Tesla, Qcells, REC, SolarEdge, and Enphase equipment, and we size every system around your actual utility rate plan rather than a generic production estimate. Arizona homeowners on APS and SRP have very different economics, and Texas homeowners on ERCOT deregulated plans have different ones again. We build for the rate you are actually on.

We also take on solar repair and system takeover work for homeowners whose original installer went out of business. If your panels stopped producing and nobody will pick up the phone, we can diagnose the system, repair it, and put it back under monitoring.

No. Design, permitting, electrical, roofing, installation, and service are handled by Icon Power employees. The only work we outsource is small patch work and unusually complex electrical.
We carry a 10 year roof penetration warranty, and because our own crews do the roofing work, there is nobody to point fingers at. You call us and we handle it.
Yes. A lot of our service work is on systems from installers that are no longer in business. We diagnose production issues, replace failed inverters and optimizers, add panels or storage, and bring the system back under monitoring.
Usually yes. It depends on your existing inverter and main panel, so we do a site survey first. We retrofit storage onto existing arrays regularly, including systems we did not install.
The two utilities price exported energy differently and SRP uses demand based rate plans, which changes both the ideal system size and whether storage makes sense for you. We look at twelve months of your actual usage and model against your specific rate
Correct. In deregulated Texas markets your value comes from your retail provider's buyback plan, and those vary a lot. We help you compare plans as part of the design, because the wrong provider can wipe out the savings from a well sized system.
Cash, loan, lease, and PPA. We work with multiple lenders so we can show you the actual numbers side by side rather than steering you to one product.
Typically 6 to 12 weeks from signed agreement to activation, though permitting and utility interconnection timelines vary by city and utility. We handle all of that paperwork
Yes, in addition to standard rooftop installs. Ground mount usually makes sense on larger lots or where roof orientation and shading limit production.

Highly Recommend Icon Power! Great overall experience!

Great overall experience working with Kurt; (Quote, design phase, installation, power on and communication). The reason we went with Icon was because great feedback of the company - sure enough; we were very happy with our experience with Icon Power - I would highly recommend Icon Power and would go back to them if we expand our solar system. Icon, provided one of the best quotes, the system used the best components (panels, inverters and racking), the installers were knowledgeable and experienced and there were no city/ AHJ rejections hence the time to power on the system was very short. I work in the Solar industry and would recommend Icon. Icon also helped improve our house efficiency by improving our roof insulation! Thank you Icon!

Review of ICON Power and Solar panels

I interviewed with personnel from five different solar companies and selected ICON Power. I selected ICON Power due to my interactions with Kevin Kennedy. When I first met Kevin, he was well prepared in advance on my power needs, professional, informative and took the time to answer my questions. I then sent an email to him with a variety of other questions and he responded within a day with very detailed answers. I was very impressed with his knowledge and his honesty. He was very responsive and straight forward. The process of signing the agreement form and obtaining the subsequent permit were seamless and happened within a few weeks. ICON Power installed my system November 24, 2020. The crew were incredibly efficient and hardworking and installed the entire system in one day. ICON Power has an excellent credit rating. Since the time of installation, my average from my solar output is around 33 to 35 kWh. I give my very best ranking to ICON Solar

Best Solar Company!!

Easy decision

Icon Power made the decision to own solar easy. Allan was instrumental in making the transition from rented solar with another company to owning with icon power easy. The panels are sleek to the house and the permitting went so much faster than my previous solar company. Having Allan as an energy consultant was great for getting questions answered and ensuring that everything was done in a timely manner. I’ve recommended them to numerous people already. After many months of waiting it finally came and installed. Mr Kennedy did a wonderful job with all my questions and help with the delay information. All understood with the lovely virus going on making delays. I recommend this company to make you solar dreams come true.
