Uprise Solar and Roofing

Uprise provided fantastic quality work and warranty. They were extremely communicative and transparent throughout the process and installation went as smoothly as it could have. Beyond the quality of their own work, I think you can tell a lot from a company by whom they work with. The roofer they recommended in conjunction with the solar install installed the roof on time and cheaper than market rate while providing fantastic work. They furthermore hired a great drywall repairman to fix the drywall holes that were necessary for the install at no charge. I would absolutely recommend Uprise to anyone that wants to go solar (and you should!).

Uprise Solar was a great solar installation contractor. From design to installation, everyone at the company that I dealt with was professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. They realized that there was more than one system configuration/size that would work for my roof and talked me through the pros and cons of the different systems. The installation itself went very smoothly. It’s great to see the system producing energy now that it’s all finished! As an added benefit, the temperature differential between the second and first floors of my house has decreased significantly, I believe b/c my roof, now shaded by the panels, is no longer absorbing so much heat from the sun. I highly recommend going solar and I highly recommend Uprise Solar!

Uprise solar was great to work with and were very transparent throughout the sales process. They offered options to pay for the panels and receive the benefit of the SRECs, or they would cover the costs, but then they would receive the benefit of the SRECs (if I recall correctly). If it is something you can afford, there is a lot of financial benefit to paying yourself, because over time, the SRECs are worth a lot. However, the city can choose to cancel them at any time, so be aware of that. However, if you are unable to cover the install cost, it is still beneficial to have solar in the savings you will get on your electric bill My panels were installed summer of '24. The Uprise Solar team helped ensure enough capacity to support a future conversion to fully electric, and once permits were issued, the install took only two days. Overall, the process was quick and very easy. They stayed in contact and shared information at every step. They have been in for over a year, and everything has been great. The Uprise Solar team helped get the SRECs set up, even though the SRECs go through a completely different company. Currently (July '25), the payout is about $388 per SREC, after the SREC company takes their commission (the market price is currently about $410). The electric bill has been about $20 a month since install - that is just the cost of being connected to the grid. In December, PEPCO sent a check for the accumulated unused power for the year. They paid about 65% of what they would have charged for the power. (The power cost about $0.147 per KwH; payment was about $0.096 per KwH.) The downside is that I had no accumulated power to use for January or February, when there is less sun, and snow blocked the panels for several days. So I had higher bills then, but overall the savings is clear. It was easy to claim the tax credit for the install, and there were no issues with the IRS. Based on all of these numbers, the payback time should be more-or-less when suggested on the sales contract. Without the tax incentive, the payback time would be extended by about 2 years (about 5.5 - 6 years total), so still a great investment in my opinion.
