Rumos Chem

I started this experience by contacting Energysage. Their energy advisor sent out a request early February 2026, and I received three quotes from solar companies. Upon reviewing the quotes, I decided on Rumos Chem. Rumos Chem was more local than the others and after doing research on the equipment within the bid, I liked what they were offering for the price. Contract was signed 2/25/26 for a price of $38,694. This included purchase and installation of 32 JA440 Solar Panels, Tesla Power Wall 3.0 (Inverter + Battery), Tesla Backup Gateway, and Critter Guard (mesh on all sides of solar array). This was based on the premise that the project would be completed in 90 days. System size was 14.08 KW + 13.5 kWh battery size. Contractor handled building permits, designs, licenses, coordinating all approvals and equipment delivery. The solar panels were set up in three arrays on the south facing roof. The battery and gateway were installed in the basement. Project was completed 8/31/26, taking 187 days. Overall, all the individuals I interfaced with were friendly and courteous. My main contact was the sales manager from Rumos Chem. I quickly learned that Rumos hired two third parties. One, Lotus Solar, performed solar panel installation and Tesla commissioning and one (did not catch the company name) provided the electricians to install the battery, gateway, large circuit breaker, and conduit from battery to solar panels. Rumos Chem provided the design, building permits, licenses, equipment and billing function. Rumos Chem did an excellent job in the design and panel sizing based on our usage. The initial design was based on an old google map of the house, but that was quickly rectified by the designer. The Rumos sales manager was very forthcoming in providing answers to my questions, but I had to know what to ask. I learned I had to do my homework so I could ask specific questions. I learned to ask questions to the installation team and to the electrician, occasionally getting different answers. I identified these inconsistencies to the Rumos sales manager, and he worked out the discrepancies. The communication between Rumos, the installation team, electrician and inspectors needed improvement. Miscommunication led to several delays. There were occasional mishaps as well, like one panel damaged during shipment which pushed back installation and inspection dates. I was extremely impressed by the Lotus Solar installation team. It was evident they knew what they were doing and were willing to put in the required effort to get the job done right. The electrician knew their trade; however, needed much persuasion on meeting customer desire. One example was the electrician told me the battery was to be installed on the outside of the house. I explained that was not the case, and it was always to be in the basement. He said it was to be installed the way his “approved” plans stated. I told him, we would have to reschedule until this was straightened out. He called his superior and 15 minutes later he said it was OK to install the battery in the basement. Second example is when the electrician installed the conduit. I asked where he planned to run it. Answer was the middle of the side exterior wall of the house. I suggested next to the chimney for a better look. Asking questions before detailed work is performed is worth the effort. The inspectors from the county and from the electric company were most helpful. One important fact, they were very happy the battery was installed in the basement. Thefts are now occurring where the thieves drive up, cut the wires and steal the $9000 battery; understanding that it weighs about 300 lbs. The electric company inspector took the time to explain “net metering” and how it will affect my electric bill. Our electricity provider is a cooperative and gives 1:1 credit, which also involves a revolving bank. Overall, I was pleased with the work and the solar results; however, the timeline could have been improved with better communication between all parties involved.

Rumos Chem not only did an outstanding technical job on my solar array, but it particularly excelled at communication pre-sale, during the project, and in follow-up afterward. Jay showed flexibility in adapting the proposal to my specific needs, and their contract was fair and clear. A great choice for me, even with stiff competition on EnergySage.

Jay has been super helpful and responsive throughout our solar journey. We live in St. Louis City, found a way to locate the panels correctly to make the best aesthetical way for the property. The process was fairly seamless, the panels and the equipment were best in class. Since turned on the panels are producing as expected. Installation was done in a professional manner, no leaks on the garage roof either. I hope to work with them in the future as well! During installation minor cracks were discovered by the installers and initiating replacement happened without me asking for it.

Inspite of all the problems we had with Cass Co. they got the job done, and it is working just like it should.

Great pricing, installation (panels, backup battery, ev charger), and overall experience. Rumos helped me beat the timeline for a tax rebate and used a great, responsive subcontractor. I was a bit worried by a couple payment snags at first but it ended up fantastic. Thank you all again!

I have made numerous attempts to contact this company regarding a refund that they owe me. I made an agreement with this company to provide me with services they failed to complete or even start. In October of 2025, I sent the company $5,092.43. The project needed to be completed before December 31, 2025 in order to receive the 30% tax rebate. When I was told they could not complete the project on time, i cancelled the project. There were no parts ordered because I didn 't make the third payment and was told parts would not be ordered before that payment. I had cancelled the project when they stated it could not be completed on time. I should have been refunded because they could not meet the requirements for the project and they didn't make any steps to begin it. They are attempting to keep my money and charge me storage and restocking fees for parts that were never ordered. They even attempted to get me to agree to file for the rebate and allow them to complete the project late, I refused to do that because that is fraud and I refuse to be a part of that. They are currently ignoring my request for a refund. If I would have gone with a company who could have completed the project on time, I would have received the government rebate. I am out the money I put down and the money that I would have received for the rebate. They have provided me no services and are not refunding the money that I put down.
