Power Northwest is worth a look!

Power Northwest did an excellent job on my 7+ kW solar system in September 2024...from the sales process to the installation process to the commissioning process. Everyone with whom I interacted was very professional and easily answered all my questions. I received quotes from 5 companies and I chose Power Northwest because it just felt right. I don't think you can go wrong if you choose them, too.

Not Fair in Business Practice

I really wanted to do business with this company. However, my decision to go with a competitor boiled down to the way Power Northwest failed to execute on some very basic practices that all other companies follow. PN provided a schematic estimate of the PV panel layout on my roof based on the Lidar data all solar companies use to evaluate solar radiance on a roof. They identified an array that looked attractive at a competitive price. However, they could not provide all the logistical details that would need to be identified before a final design could be developed. Missing from their quote were details about how cabling would run, how the system would be connected to house wiring and the grid, where electrical junction and breaker boxes would be placed, whether external conduits would be required, the exact number of PV panels that would fit on my roof along with the associates total estimated annual (guaranteed) production. In order to understand all the missing details, I requested a site visit so a technician could answer my questions and create a final design along with a final cost. Where PN lost me was when they demanded that I pay $1,000 to get them to do a site visit. What really killed the deal was when they told me that I would lose the $1,000 if I did not elect to enter a contract to purchase and install the PV system they designed prior to a site visit. Essentially, they demanded $1,000 to perform a function that NO CONTRACTOR in my 35 years of experience dealing and contracting with construction contractors would ever do. The reason I was told that the $1,000 was required was because they were "full", which I took to mean that they had no capacity to perform a final design. Based on m y experience, I must conclude that this company is employing unethical business practices. I'd advise that anyone interested in contracting with them look somewhere else.

Power Northwest was great to work with!

Power Northwest was great to work with on my solar project. They got me the best rebates to make the project feasible on my limited budget. They really worked with my challenging hip roof space to maximize my solar production. They carefully shepherded the project to its conclusion and guaranteed their work. They are a local company, committed to providing excellent customer service.

Provided excellent service

I was very satisfied with the service from Power Northwest. They delivered everything I expected of them; they were easy to communicate with and always responded to my inquiries in a timely manner. My one suggestion for improvement would be that the explanation for the process and timeline for installation and activation of a solar panel system would be more specific. Based on what I was initially told, I thought the solar system would be operational as soon as the panel installation was complete. I then learned the system would become operational only after PGE installed a new meter, which would be immediately after panel installation. Only when panel installation was occurring, did I learn that it could take up to two weeks after completion of the panels for PGE to switch out the electric meter. Fortunately, it turned out to be a wait of only a few days for the meter to be installed. Overall, it was good experience working with Power Northwest. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the peak power generating season so I can begin reaping the benefits and cost savings of my solar system.

Quick to the job!

Power Northwest was quick to respond, quote, schedule, and complete the work. I was in a tough spot with my ~6 year-old 3.78 kW Tesla system (12 panels + 1 Powerwall) and needed a roof replacement. Tesla quoted about 3 months for panel removal and another 3 months after the roof was finished, potentially 6+ months total, and it would have required two separate contracts (one for removal, one for reinstall). Power Northwest handled everything under a single contract for $7,400 (half at signing, half at completion) and finished the job in about 2 weeks. My biggest concern was whether a third-party installer would meet Tesla’s standards and void the warranty. After checking with Tesla, they confirmed the warranty stays intact as long as the work follows their specifications. Power Northwest has Tesla certification, the right tools, and a capable team, and they did the work correctly. Great experience, much faster and simpler than going through Tesla.

No Pressure, Just Great Help

We had a great experience, exploring all the possibilities of solar with Power NW. It's obvious Chris knows the landscape (and all the details)! With his help, we determined our specific location was not a good fit for solar, but there was no pressure to buy. Just a ton of helpful information, timely responses to questions, and clear conversations. We would highly recommend working with Chris and Power NW to see if solar power makes sense for you.
