Disappointing Quality and Unresolved Tapping Noise in New Mitsubishi Mini-Split

I purchased ($500 more expensive than a competitor's unit) a new Mitsubishi Electric MSZ-HX09NL 9,000 BTU mini-split heat pump expecting quiet, reliable operation from a premium HVAC manufacturer. Unfortunately, this unit has been a disappointment. Since installation, the indoor unit has produced an intermittent, repetitive tapping or knocking sound during cooling. The noise can occur approximately every 10 seconds and is particularly noticeable in a quiet bedroom. When cooling stops and the system is switched to Fan Only mode, the tapping disappears. My HVAC contractor has made multiple return visits and consulted with Mitsubishi technical support. Troubleshooting has included removing and reinstalling the indoor unit, inspecting and reinforcing the mounting bracket, verifying wall flatness and refrigerant line clearance, enlarging the wall penetration, removing the outer cabinet cover, and attempting to isolate internal components with tape. Despite these efforts, the tapping continues. What makes this especially frustrating is that I own another Mitsubishi MSZ-HX09NL unit, installed identically, in another room, and that unit operates quietly. I appreciate my HVAC contractor's efforts, but after multiple unsuccessful repair attempts involving Mitsubishi technical support, I expected a more definitive resolution from the manufacturer. My concern is not that the unit fails to cool. It is that a premium, brand-new mini-split produces an objectionable tapping noise that repeated service attempts have failed to eliminate. I would not recommend this particular unit based on my experience unless Mitsubishi can provide an effective repair or replacement. I hope Mitsubishi takes this complaint seriously and stands behind its product. I will update this review if Mitsubishi provides a satisfactory warranty resolution.

Distributor Does not honor their warranty

My split unit starting making noise after 2 months. Took over a month to schedule distibutor (Alternate Energy) to come in. then they told me it was not their problem and blamed it on the drane (which they chose to use to save cost on their fixed bid install).
