Wish it didn't have to come to this

To avoid being labeled unreasonable or unempathetic I’ll start with a few positives: * Noah M, David C, Tina A, Nicole A, Natasha L, and the entire Engel Electric team (outsourced electrician/company that did the majority of the install work) are good, nice people who are trying their best to do the right thing. It’s unfortunate they’re not empowered to do more to help STSS customers. * Our system is now fully operational (though it took 16 months, and a lot of client driven project management). Unfortunately the list of shortfalls outweighs the positives * Start with looking at their BBB situation: (https://www.bbb.org/us/tx/san-antonio/profile/solar-energy-equipment-dealers/south-texas-solar-systems-0825-90119623), we’re not the only ones experiencing issues. * They submitted for payment from the bank providing our loan prior to the project being completed, which is a violation of the terms and conditions of the loan agreement. As a result, they offered to reimburse us for all monthly payments made until the job was finished. Of the TWELVE payments owed to us they only sent 2 (and are now completely unresponsive, the owner even changed his email address). * After months of chasing the owner in an attempt to close out the project we’ve chosen to retain legal counsel to help us pursue the matter to the fullest extent necessary. A note to the owner, James Heibert: * Please help make this right. Our project could have been a great story to use for other potential customers.

Do Not Use South Texas Solar Systems

I would highly advise you not to use South Texas Solar Systems. When we chose South Texas Solar Systems in May 2022, we decided to get solar panels, 2 power walls and new breaker boxes. At the time, the power walls were out of stock so we knew we would have to wait months before the system would be up and running. After we signed, our sales rep told us that, even though they did not have the power walls yet, we should go ahead and get the solar panels on the roof while they had those in stock in case they had a shortage of those once the power walls arrived. We took his advice and they hired a crew to put the solar panels on our roof. Immediately after they went up, we started getting notices from the bank financing our loan that we needed to start paying our full monthly payments. We called South Texas Solar Systems to understand what was going on because the loan contract we signed says we would not need to start paying until ALL of the equipment was installed and we were clearly still missing our power walls and breaker boxes. The only reason they could start charging us early was if all work was completed but the city was slow in coming out to approve the final inspection and turn on power. They acknowledged that they should not have submitted paperwork saying work was completed to the bank and reimbursed us for the first 2 months of our payments. After that, they told us they would no longer be reimbursing us monthly, but would instead pay us one lump sum when the job was complete. It took another 10 months before work was finished and now they refuse to answer our calls and the owner has changed his email so we get a bounce back message. They still owe us around $3,500. In addition, the reason we chose South Texas Solar Systems was because they said they would do twice a year cleaning and inspection of the panels (for the first 5 years) and once annually for another 20 years (as a differentiator from other companies). The first cleaning was originally scheduled for Oct 30, 2023. They “no call, no showed” and we have not been able to get them to reschedule us yet to come out for a cleaning. If you are looking at getting solar for your home, do not trust South Texas Solar Systems.

Deceitful Liars

On 8/7, I placed an order with Dan Moran, VP of Sales, for 2-Tesla Powerwall 2 batteries because he said they had them in stock (I have that in writing). However, several days after I placed my order and paid for them I found out that they were NOT in stock. The first lie. Then after I practically begged for an install date, I was given a date of 9/7, a month after I paid for the "in stock" batteries. I was not super happy about it, but I waited a month for 9/7 to come around. On 9/5, I called to make sure that we are set to go on 9/7, which was their install date and found out that still no batteries in stock/no install planned. It was like their date of 9/7 for the install didn't even exist on their calendar. Lie number 2. Having had enough of being jerked around, I notified Dan Moran that I wanted to cancel the order and take my business elsewhere. That was on 9/6. Dan said it would take 3-5 days to refund my money, but it is 9/25 and still no refund. I finally spoke with the owner, James Hiebert, and he tried to tell me not only would I have to pay a $1500 cancellation fee (which I agreed to because it was in the installation agreement) but also a bogus 15% restocking fee from Tesla (which I checked with Tesla on and their restocking fee is $250-$500, not 15% and I have that in writing too) nor is that fee in the installation agreement. Lie number 3. I am sure that they never even ordered the batteries because it took me a total of 6 days to get them straight from Tesla having ordered them on 9/14 and receiving them on 9/20 (I have the purchase order and the Bill of Laden when they were delivered, and they were $3000 cheaper). So everything Dan Moran and James Hiebert say is a total lie. DO NOT do business with these people. Their website says that they have a A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, but if you go to the BBB website, the rating for South Texas Solar has been "Revoked". Again, another lie. But what would you expect.

terrible company

signed contract with company in august 2021 and still waiting to have it installed jan.2022. Lied to me from very start. they would start in sept didn't do anything until i started to complain middle of oct. and blamed it on utility co. they never started anything with utility co until oct and i checkedwith utility co. which had no record of anything from these people.they don't reply to emails or return calls.you will regret doing business with this company. save your money. they seem to have only one electrician to do their work.the last people they had here, middle of dec, didn't seem to know what to do. i bought good equipment Panasonic. Panasonic should use better judgement in picking dealers.

Run away! Lies on recordings and emails

Worst business experience I have ever had... Dan Moran lies soamy times, ripped me off, didn't order parts and failed to communicate anything about my project after getting his money and running around calling me a liar. Even the emails in his face and he's disrespecting me on a recorded call and won't stop repeating himself that they don't exist. I never got my rebate for paying in December, I still don't have power because they still haven't set the entire system up because they never ordered the parts, I have been lied to four times about install dates or arrivals and task of the day. The commincatiin is non existent. Once they have screwed you and robbed you, they won't contact you ever again. I even have recorded call of james the owner lying out his rear and promising me this and that. Then never speaking to me again and falling on his stupid face for the promises he made. Disabled veteran with a child and service animals freezing to death with no power for xmas or new years and now they areovkng towards ruining our Valentine's day also. Run as far as you can and don't believe their false promises and remarks. They want your money and that's all.
