Save yourselves the time and hassle!

Not only did Sunergy perform a nonexistent site assessmen, but they stole my money. Between the 8 month process and 4 or so project managers, and multiple contract changes, I should have seen all the warning signs. These guys could not complete the job because they didn't do a proper site assessment, then tried to charge me 3000+ for their mistake. I negotiated them into the full refund, which they agreed to. 2 months later, no refund! The CSLB, as many have reviewers have shared, are working on this. Do your homework! It is no wonder CSLB responded from the Multiple Offender Unit! BBB unrated with an F. Yelp rating of 2.5 FTB Suspended 1/2/2025 to 7/3/2025 No Contractor Bond between 05/01/2026 and 05/07/2026 Finally check out CHRISTOPHER MICHAEL HAMMERSTONE history on CSLB. If they can't keep their own stuff together, they aren't going to do right by you. Save yourselves the headache from literal theft. They might not even be around in a few years.

Adding on to existing system with multi-tariff setup

***UPDATED *** The 5 star rating is solely for the project manager, Nicole Brown. While I am giving Sunergy as a whole a low rating, I would like to call out Nicole Brown, the project manager assigned to my project. She did her best to be communicative and keep the project moving once she was brought on, and I appreciate her efforts. There was the snafu with the system being shut-off in early April, but I attribute that to instruction and guidance given by the decision-makers/leadership above her. I really appreciate her responsiveness to all my questions and give her (personally) 5 stars. Full review: Sunergy as a whole - 1 star I signed the contract with Sunergy back in July 2025 to get the following as an add-on to my existing solar: -10 REC Alpha REC 460AAPure-RX Panels -10 Enphase IQ8X-80-M-US inverters -2 Enphase IQ10C batteries I paid the deposit, system was designed, moved to permit submission, I paid the associated milestone payment, and everything was going pretty well until around end of September 2025, when Sunergy stopped communicating for about a month. It wasn't until early November 2025 when I received an email from my original salesperson (Tyler, who is no longer at the company now) that notified me that they were having trouble securing the REC panels despite reassuring me during the contracting process they would have adequate supply and instead offered me JA Solar panels with an additional panel and inverter at the same price, which I accepted as I was told this would speed up my install. With this change order, they were able to schedule the installation for late November 2025/early December 2025. I note here that they used a subcontractor for installation even though they told me they do all their work in-house. They completed most of the physical install in early December 2025 but the system was not usable at the time. In fact, in late January 2026/early February Sunergy identified that they need to make revisions to the permits for the inspection (which they made and turned on the system for the inspection), and the inspection in mid-February identified key deficiencies with the install and the permits (missing necessary equipment), which failed the system, and I got a lien notice form the subcontractor (Earthbound Solar) due to their payment dispute with Sunergy. Sunergy also demanded that I pay for the next milestone payment despite the system failing the inspection and needing additional work to be done, which was not scheduled at the time. I declined and insisted that they fix the deficiencies first, then I would be happy to pay. They threatened to shut-off my system until I paid, and then shut it off in early April 2025. I sent a detailed demand letter to their CEO and GM and the next day they were able to schedule a new installer (Tran Electric did a great job and are very knowledgeable) to come on-site to work on the deficiencies within a week. Once that was complete, I paid the milestone payment and they turned back on the system, and inspection passed in late April 2025. PTO application was submitted to PG&E and finally approved June 2026. Practically, they might have been hit with the perfect storm of (1) tariffs, (2) many customers starting projects to take advance of the expiring tax credits, and (3) poor internal management. However that is no excuse for all the gaps in communication, poor subcontractor selection and management, and the threat to turn off the system and actually doing so. I hope that moving forward they invest in training and the right people, make sure to select and use experienced and knowledgeable subcontractors, and are more transparent with customers. If you are dealing with problems, be clear and honest instead of ghosting your customers and giving little to no information. Also, don't take on more than you can actually handle, and treat your employees better instead of tying their individual performance strictly to a company-wide review.

Not the Experience We Were Promised

My solar project with Sunergy took nine months from contract to PTO, which was far longer than the 2-4 month timeline they told me was typical. I want to share the details so other homeowners can make an informed decision. The early stages of the project were marked by delays and inconsistent communication. The design phase took several weeks longer than expected due to repeated revisions and requests for information I had already provided. Despite being told we would receive weekly updates, there were multiple periods where I went weeks without any updates from Sunergy and often received no response to my inquiries. Permitting became a major issue when I discovered that Sunergy did not have an active license with the City of Torrance. This prevented them from submitting the permit for seven weeks. I ultimately had to go to the city myself to obtain the permit because Sunergy was unable to complete the process. A week before installation, Sunergy informed me that the panels I originally contracted for were not available. They offered me a lower-efficiency model or the option to wait. Because it was already late December and delaying the installation would have jeopardized my eligibility for the federal tax credit, I felt I had no practical choice but to accept the downgraded equipment. On installation day, I also learned that the crew was mostly subcontractors, despite Sunergy’s earlier statements that they only used in-house installers. Some interactions with the installation team were unprofessional and created unnecessary pressure to proceed. The most serious issue occurred after installation. Sunergy activated the system without PTO. When SCE arrived for the inspection, they identified a backfeed issue that they described as potentially dangerous. The system had been operating in that condition for six weeks. SCE shut the system down and removed the meter collar. It took approximately one month for Sunergy to resolve the issue and for PTO to be approved. I understand there was an industry-wide end-of-year demand spike, but the major issues we experienced were not caused by that. They were the result of Sunergy’s poor management, licensing delays, and lack of customer focus. The system is functioning now, but the overall experience included significant delays, miscommunication, and decisions that did not align with the expectations set during the sales process. Based on what we went through, I would recommend choosing a different installer that is more consistent, transparent, and technically reliable.

Great customer service

Jackie Ballesteros and the rest of the Sunergy team did a great job of navigating us through the whole process and dealing with the permitting steps.

Atrocious

The previous review by gary_mi says it all. His story is my story. I also have filed a complaint with CSLB. The question you have to ask yourself is; Do I really want to do business with a company that has angered multiple customers and has multiple CSLB complaints against them? Avoid these guys like the plague. Edit - 5/29/2026. I suspect they will want to change their response once they see they are called out, so I'm saving a copy of Sunergy's response here ... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ET6-dLKr7ff4nP-lDl1OiE7ThGGuST1c/view?usp=drive_link Firstly, they say I declined the alternative equipment option. That is a blatant lie. A copy of the signed change order can be found here ... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bncap6ekK3tO64HKNsD3HFLkhP00mWCb/view?usp=drive_link Secondly, they say CSLB "found no wrongdoing by Sunergy". Judge for yourself ... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DuVPdrbpiJheFryoq__9ScGdqI0qGraG/view?usp=drive_link Third, they say the IRS tax credit was never guaranteed. This is true, but it is a clever little misdirection - this was never about guaranteeing the tax credit. Sunergy undertook to complete the installation by 12/31 in order to meet the IRS deadline for claiming the tax credit. See Sunergy's proposal here and decide for yourself if they created any kind of expectation that the installation would be completed on time. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sj8aX3We5KyivfZa3uNCB5qjW8CgZs5r/view?usp=drive_link There is more, but this should give some insight into the character of the people running Sunergy.

Solar panels installation.

Really impressed with Jackie's dedication towards consistent follow up calls on all the updates towards my solar installation every week. She replied promptly to any queries or emails I've sent. Also, thankful to Richard and team to bring this Solar installation to closure. Great work, customer centric, definitely recommend them.
