Sunsent was amazing to work with. We heard numerous horror stories about people having terrible experiences with solar companies. That along with rude and pushy door to door salesmen made us very wary. After a neighbor recommended Sunsent we set up an appointment. John was great explaining to us the potential benefits. The whole process was very smooth

They were great and fast had my system installed less than 3 month from initial coordination to completion.

We were uncertain about going solar. We received quotes from a few companies, but it was the team at SunSent Solar that provided a clear and concise understanding of what was the best option that also included the best price. The installation team was polite and extremely fast! SunSent ensured no surprises!

Had a great experience from start to finish with Sunsent. Couldn't ask for a better experience and workmanship. Installers were efficient and did a great job. Everything was done and working within a couple days and only delayed due to local inspections. But they worked through it all and I didn't have anything to worry about. Would recommend to anyone looking to do solar install.

Summary Designs were changed without my approval. Poor communication from the project design + engineering team. Difficult to get ahold of management. Contract has terms beyond the signed page that may or may not be valid. Unable to replicate energy output by 3rd party sources. The 10% down was padded with expenses on cancelling. End of April I signed a contract for a south side roof mounted 27 panel15.3kWh/year and paid the 10% down (~3700$). Without informing me, a week later the design had changed and was sent to county permitting and ameren. New design had about half the panels on the southside and half on the northside. I asked about it and told that they have a generation guarantee, don’t worry. I became concerned that there were going to be problems generating the 15.3kWh/yr and asked about it. No response. I also asked if the system being over 10kw would cause problems with ameren. No response. May 20th net metering was approved. Suspicion grew over the generation claim as ameren says their system approval under 10 kw is 30 days and over is up to 90days. The system was to be 12kw DC. I asked about the permit status and was told by Laura the project was on pause. I asked why. No response. June I get a new contract, but not new design, changing the panel brand, lower panel wattage, and 27->29 panels. I did some calculations that showed the panels did not generate the target amount on my roof and would be 15-20% lower than the target. I asked why I am paying for generation that cannot happen. They said the generation is guaranteed and the new panels are bifacial (generate from both sides of the panel). I asked if the panels would be tilted to allow light under the panels. No response. I sent the design I had to other companies. None could replicate the generation. After a few days of me sending messages to SunSent about my concerns, my salesperson said they would do a 3 way call with the manager Rory as the salesperson is not on the technical side. I asked everyday for 3 days when the call would be, but the manager was too busy to speak to me. Eventually the call with the manager Rory happened while he was driving. He listened to my concerns and said he would show me the process of how they design the next morning. Rory sent me a video with the system they were designing for me. It was similar to the previous design that hadn’t been approved by myself. I rebuilt the system in their software (OpenSolar), with their equipment, and in other software (Aurora). I could not replicate their numbers in the video. The DC wattage in the video sent to me was lower than the proposal I had signed off on a month and a half earlier, but it generated more. This sealed my distrust of them. I got a quote from another company and sent it to SunSent. I asked them to meet or beat the quote. There was no counter after 5 calendar days. I ended the project and went with the other company. I cancelled on June 18 and was told afterwards they were ready to schedule. I had not approved a design, had no permits for the system, and was unconvinced of the designs would perform. I asked for a list of expenses and to return the remaining 10% down payment. I was told I would not be charged for equipment. July 8th I sent an email asking about the list of expenses and the return of the remainder again. No response. Next day I sent one to Rory. No response. On July 10th I began a dispute with my bank. After the dispute process had been finalized, Rory responded that I wasn’t getting any of the 10% back and he would get me the list in a week. Which he did. I asked for a copy of the building and electrical stamps, dated and signed on when they were approved. Nothing. I am being billed for restocking on undelivered equipment. When I asked about it, I was referred to an undated page after the signature page on the contract saying the 10% is non-refundable. Found out that permits were issued for the design on May 8th. I had to cancel the permits my self. I am locked out of the customer portal, so save all communications and documents on your computer.

John Bopp and his team were accessible, informative and open to any question. We redesigned twice and there was never any problem. There is a lot of information to get through as far as how many panels, as well as how rebates and offsets work. Through SunSent’s information we were able to walk through what was best for us and based on our previous research into the rebate process found that this company was the best fit.
