Unprofessional and Untrustworthy

I regret selecting The Solar Cowboys to do my installation. 1. I hired The Solar Cowboys 3 months ago, and the installation is still not complete, and I've been given no indication of when this might happen. 2. The Solar Cowboys ignored the agreed-upon plans and have tried to bully me into accepting an alternate design. 3. The Solar Cowboys have lied frequently lied to me, about both large and small matters, including what work they intend to do and things they've broken. 4. The Solar Cowboys give me no notice, when someone is coming out, meaning I'm not told that someone is suppose to come out, much less a day and time. In addition, The Solar Cowboys often no-call/no-show, when they do make appointments, and I get no response, when I ask for an update. 5. The Solar Cowboys propose non-city-approved alterations. 1. My installation is still incomplete, with no estimate for completion. My installation included relocating my electrical panel. The inspection called for new breakers. After the new breakers were installed, the breakers for my A/C and dryer kept kicking. I was told that they would send someone out to fix it. That was 2 1/2 weeks ago, and I've been given no indication of when this might happen. * The Solar Cowboys did set an appointment, last week, to fix the installation, but they no-call/no-showed, and I've not received any response, when I asked for an update. * I have, at my own expense, addressed both issues. 2. The Solar Cowboys ignored the agreed-upon plans and have tried to bully me into an alternate layout. When I first made the agreement for installation, I told the salesman that I would not sign, until we had a layout that I was okay with. We spent a few hours drawing it up, before I signed the contract. When The Solar Cowboys sent me the official layout to approve, the panels, batteries, and breaker box were not where we'd agreed, and I rejected the plan. They were supposed to submit a new plan to me to approve and never did. I talked to them, before installation was complete, about making sure that the panels would be laid out, as agreed, and I was assure that they would be. The batteries and breaker box were put in an acceptable place. The panels were not. When I brought this up, I was told that they installed everything, per the customer-customer approved design. When I pointed out that I had rejected the only design they sent me, I was told that they installed everything, per the customer-approved design. I was additionally told that no promises were made to install the panels, per my agreed-upon layout. 3. I am frequently lied to. The morning of the install, the installer came and told me that they were there and would be working on the roof. I said, "Okay." Then, I received a call from the SC rep, asking to reschedule, the because the installer had told SC that I told them to leave and to come back later. The proposed explanation I was given was that the installer did not speak English well, and that he mistranslated "Okay" as "Leave and come back later." After the install, the hard-wired button for my garage door opener no longer worked. The electrician returned, and told me that it was working for him. I asked him if he'd done anything to fix it, and he said, "No." I asked him, again, if he had to do anything to fix it, and he said, "No." I asked, "Are you sure you didn't have to do anything to fix it?" and he said that the wire was broken, in the attic, and he had to wire-nut it back together. The electrical install was to take place on 2 days, spaced more than a week apart, and I park in my garage. So, it was agreed that the garage would be cleared, after the first day's work. When the installers were cleaning up, I asked the head installer if he knew that the garage had to be cleared, before they left. He said, "yes," but his demeanor said, "and I'm not going to." So, I asked a few more questions, and yes, he knew that the garage had to be cleared, before he left. When he left, the garage was impassable, and I had to have him called back, to clear it. 4. More than once, I have had people appear at my door, regarding the solar installation, with no notice that anyone was coming for anything, much less a date and time. When they do make appointments, The Solar Cowboys often no-call/no-show. I do not live in the same state as the service address. It has been fortunate that I've happened to have been around to accommodate them. If The Solar Cowboys would give me a date, or even a date range, I could make arrangements for someone to be at the house, for them. I have work to do. I do not have time to wait around all day for them, if they aren't going to show. It's problem enough that they cannot give me a time, and I have to allocate an entire day to them, when they do make an appointment. A few hours into an appointment day, I ask for an esimated time. I've never gotten a response, which means I've gotten no reponse, at all, on no-call/no-show days. When I've brought up the no-call/no-show issues, I've gotten excuses about why they couldn't find someone to come to the house. When it's the city, some of that is out of their hands, but, when it's their own people, they know whether someone is coming, and saying they couldn't find someone is no excuse for not letting me know. * From what the city inpectors have said, the city no-call/no-show date (appointment told to me by TSC) was a date that TSC would have known they wouldn't be there, and TSC can get an estimated date from the city, if they ask. The notice I received for the first inspection was a text, when the city inspector was already at the house. Fortunately, I was only 5 minutes away, and I was able to leave work, to meet him. For that inspection, TSC had scheduled a day with me the previous week, but it was a no-call/no-show, and I had not received any updates from TSC. Last week, someone came to the door, saying he was with The Solar Cowboys. I thought he was going to fix the non-working lines, since TSC had recently no-call/no-showed on that, but he was there for an inspection. I had not been told that an inspection was pending. I still have no response, regarding the non-working electical lines. 5. The Solar Cowboys have proposed to make modifications that the city disapproves of. The issue with the non-working lines is that the city asked for GFCI breakers on 2 lines, due to the nature of the breaker panel relocation. It's the GFCIs that were kicking, not the breakers, themselves. The Solar Cowboys proposed to get the city inspection passed, then to replace the breakers with non-GCFI breakers. I have refused to let them modify my system, to take it out of compliance. * TSC has told me that this issue is common, in homes of my type. * TSC has told me that ensuring that my dryer and A/C lines are in a workable state, after breaker panel relocation, is not within their scope of work. * I told TSC that, if this is a common problem, they should have told me, beforehand.

Excellent

The Solar Cowboys are awesome. Great pricing, timeliness of completing the task and went above and beyond getting my reroof done and installing and reinstalling my panels after. Wish more companies were like this one.

Awesome the Solar Cowboys

Nick with The Solar Cowboys is Awesome! The Solar Cowboys installed additional panels to our home. We had some existing panels from another company and after the installation was completed, we receive no/zero support, and at one point our system did not work for over a month. We contacted The Solar Cowboys to add the additional panels and get our system up and running. Nick and crew re-mapped our Enphase system and have been so accessible to us. Not only did they install the panels timely / professionally they ensured all the debris was picked up after. When one of our squirrel friends fried themselves between a panel the Solar Cowboys recommended and installed what is called critter guard around the panels a perfect solution. Nick and crew went above and beyond to ensure the panels were all working as well as taking the time to better explain the system to me and how I could continue to monitor it. He also made sure I knew how to contact him should I have any further questions. So nice to finally work with a company that takes pride in their work and wants to make sure you not only have a good experience, but their product is well represented! Thank you, guys, I would highly recommend The Solar Cowboys.

Bad Communication

The company is really bad at communication and setting appointments. The continuous called when I was unable to answer was very frustrating.
