REC Pro Trust Certified Installer, Enphase Certified Installer
Steve and Alan did a good job of answering all my questions regarding my solar installation, walking me through the timeline and getting the system installed in a timely manner. One month later everything is running smoothly. 11/25/2025.
I had an excellent experience with Pinnacle Solar NW. After thoroughly researching solar installation companies in Portland, two stood out. Although I was initially hesitant because Pinnacle Solar NW is relatively new, conversations with Dan and the owner, Steve, quickly reassured me—their team is composed of seasoned professionals with deep expertise in the solar industry. The entire process—from design, estimate, and evaluation (handled by Dan, Steve, and Alan) to installation (carried out by Sky, Obie, and Ryan)—was smooth and efficient. I observed much of the installation firsthand and was genuinely impressed by the meticulous attention to detail shown by Sky and Obie. As an added bonus, they are certified installers for REC, which further boosted my confidence in their capabilities. The team exceeded my expectations, using high-quality products at very competitive prices. I can confidently vouch for this crew.
Pinnacle Solar NW is by far the best if you are considering installing solar on your house. I called over 25 different companies trying to find a company that would work with me to install solar panels I purchased myself. At the time I didn’t realize how difficult it would be to find a qualified company to help me get them installed. Pinnacle Solar NW worked with me throughout the process, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the results. They were very flexible, professional, and supportive of my specific needs, requests, and concerns. Pinnacle Solar NW can take on the full project or help you design the best solution for your specific needs. The finished job looks great, and functions as expected. Really can’t say enough about how positive the experience was working with them to complete my project.
Pinnacle did a great job on the installation of our solar panels. They also explained the system and how to monitor the system.
I am the ultimate obsessive researcher before making a big purchase. I had been on and off getting quotes and learning about solar for the past 10 years before deciding this is the year to do it. I started a fresh excel spreadsheet and made my own comparison for 6 solar installers on multiple variables so that by the time I chose Pinnacle I was sure I had the best product, the best price, and a top notch team. I was proven correct every step of the way! For people like me who would like more details, here goes: I first took a deep dive looking at two quotes for one of the large National installers. It turned out one was a direct employee of the company and the other a dealer. Counter-intuitively, the dealer’s quote was 1/3 lower than the employee’s quote, and the dealer was more transparent. This company emphasizes their warranty because their product and their teams are not so great. And if you read the reviews, the warranties don’t always come through. I knocked those two out first because the product was less efficient and my roof does not have enough surface area for the number of those panels that would have had to be installed to produce what I wanted. Then I took a deep dive looking at two regional installers that have been around a long time and have good reputations. They emphasized that they will be around to honor their warranty (most of the local installers offer a 10 year warranty for their work) whereas a newer company has a high probability of going bust in 2 or 3 years. Their prices were 1/3 higher, they required almost all of the payment well before installation, and in one case their installation date would have been in January 2026! I came back around many phone calls and pieced together that the extra 1/3 was going into keeping up a large infrastructure of office buildings, etc., not necessarily what they were paying the actual hands on people. I also went door to door in SE and NE Portland neighborhoods knocking on doors and learning of actual peoples’ experiences. Most people had nothing go wrong the first 10 years, so that particular warranty is not the most important thing. A 25 or 30 year manufacturer’s warranty on the panels and inverters is more important. They used good products and had these too, but 1/3 more expensive is no small change. Then I took a deep dive into Pinnacle and another company that had been around just a bit longer than them, about 5 years. They both had similar business models and appeared very similar in most respects. I liked them both. Pinnacle was pricing 1/3 less for the best product of any of the companies; this just slightly older competitor was somewhere between the two book ends in price and very tempting. Every technical question I asked them supported what Pinnacle and my research were telling me, so that increased my trust for Pinnacle. And then…one of my random door knocks…those people had their solar panels installed by someone well over 10 years ago and they were over the moon happy with their panels, the whole process, and their sales/point person, who worked for a California company at the time. Somehow one of us on a lark mentioned his name, and it was Dan Tracy of Pinnacle Solar! Confirmation that he’s not a newbe and he knows what he is doing. I also met the owner, Steve Nye, who struck out on his own for good reasons, and who previously worked for another solar company that was recommended by my awesome installer of a standing seam roof that integrates beautifully with solar panels. I also liked that Steve was a graduate research assistant at UMass, Boston in an environmental project. Both Dan and Steve answered all my questions directly, fully, and knowledgeably. I spoke directly with the manufacturers of the REC panels (top of the line for efficiency, and longevity and the only criticism other installers could levy is that they are more expensive and were they to use this, their already inflated prices would increase!) and NPhase inverters and I was comfortable moving forward. I’m notorious for reading every word of a contract, asking for clarification wherever things seem vague, and asking for what I was promised in plain English to be written into the contract in plain English. Dan and Steve graciously accommodated my request. And other than the 1K downpayment that went toward the engineering report, they did not collect a penny from me until after PGE connected my system! This sealed my trust with them, and it also incentivized them to move quickly, which they did! Their project manager, Alan did all the work in the background to coordinate everything efficiently. Their electrician and installation guys were lovely, efficient, clean, and so very personable (my son plans to meet up to jam on guitar with one of them!). A special plug for Steve’s artistic eye. The design looks amazing! He got enough panels on a tiny roof to completely offset my electricity costs such that I will be paying only the connection fee once we cycle through a year. We started on some cloudy days and my system was producing, and then on our more recent sunny days it’s been cranking. I’ve had it for about a week now, half of them cloudy days, and my app says that I consumed 119.4 Kwh and produced 190.6 Kwh, which means I banked 71.1 Kwh and I think that’s pretty darn good! In sum, I wholeheartedly recommend Pinnacle with max stars on every measure! Thank you Pinnacle!!!
Pinnacle Solar NW was extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of our project. They were the only company that was able to find a solution to PGE's limitations and get us to 97% PGE offset. We have only had our system up and running for a few weeks but no issues as of yet.
