Bad faith contract,bait ans switch

We signed a contract with them in June for a 25.2 kw system that was supposed to produce just under 31,000 kw first year for around $71,000 or 2.31 per kw. We brought up multiple times that their design did not fit the structure of the south side of our house, but we're assured that they would honor the price and production promised even if changes had to be made. Now after they've already been paid around 80% of the cost, they are claiming that they can't do that, with around $500 less worth of production per year for that price and $2.71-81 per kw prices instead of the promised $2.31. They seem to think that terminating the contract for misleading us falls under electing to cancel and thus would be able to keep a large amount of our money to do nothing. Update: In response to there response, they initially indicated that we'd owe them the profit part of the contract if we cancelled. They only offered a full refund AFTER we filed formal complaints with the BBB. Contract was for $71,286 for 30,860 first year production, yet they want to claim that its no change in cost to to go from this to 26,722 first year production if the system size is the same 25.2 kw.

Smooth Operation From Start to Finish

I found my experience working the the folks at A&R Solar to be exceptional. It began with a visit from a very knowledgeable and patient design consultant, Turner Pittkin. He looked over our home very carefully, considered our needs, and prescribed a system that would actually Guarantee our solar output without generating 'too much' energy. (If the system is over-prescribed and produces more solar Kwh's than you need-- PSE doesn't pay you back. You lose it.) My installation was nearly flawless. Travis did the electrical work, including installing a new panel to handle my additional circuit needs, and connecting the solar panels to a wall of equipment installed in my garage. I had them include an electric car charger for my future Tesla too, and all of this was done quickly and with a minimum of fuss. Everyone worked so hard and so carefully, I could not have asked for a more competent and professional installation.

Great team, experienced and knowledgable

This company is great to work with from the initial inquiry, through installation, and after installation. The front office is courteous and very responsive. The team at the office even showed me their warehouse and equipment when I showed up to make a payment. Joel and his team did a great job at my home. 46 panels installed in 4 days through the rain and powerwalls and inverter neatly hung on my garage walls and a new service panel. System was succesfully tested on the 5th day. Now just waiting on PSE to install the Meyers so the system can stay online. My cost after federal credit is about $2.43 a watt.

They know their business!

Of 4 companies I contacted for proposals, A&R Solar was the only one to come through with a solid proposal, with several options to consider. Turner understood what I wanted, what I needed, and what was physically, technologically, and financially feasible. I am still awaiting installation (the only downside), so I cannot comment on actual installation or performance.

Professional, Thorough, Great to deal with

When we decided to install solar power, we attended a presentation by A&R Solar. The presentation was very thorough and they answered all the audience questions in a coherent understandable manner. So we signed up for an appointment. The representative who came out was very personable but not a "slick" salesman. He listened to our concerns and made reasonable suggestions. When the bid came to us, my husband had a lot of questions (he's an engineer) that were carefully and considerately answered. When he asked for changes, they were made promptly and the revised plans were quickly sent to us. The installation was done quickly in just a couple of days. The crew was courteous and cleaned up all their detritus each day. They arranged to have the inspectors come out for all the inspections. At the end they showed us what had been done and thoroughly explained how all the meters functioned and interacted. All in all it was a very professional and enjoyable experience that we would highly recommend to anyone considering installing solar power for their homes.

Solar installation

Up front about costs and whether the house had the right orientation, before any contract was signed. Once signed, installation was undertaken. Some waiting for materials, if I remember correctly, which were coming from Bellingham, and after installation, waiting for inspectors to sign off. Once all that was complete, and the power company had finished with inspections, there have been absolutely no problems--and I haven't had a light bill since. A&R has been good to work with, letting me know about delays and the whys thereof. Enjoyed the experience and love the result!
