Go with Mason at Solar Optimum

I’m giving this project 5 star review because I think it is the best company to go with for quality and a competitive cost. If you go with this company, 100% ask for Mason to be your sales rep. Avoid Eddie at all costs as he won’t respond to you after you sign your agreement…Because of this, Management actually switched my contact person to Mason, and I am forever grateful for that. Mason is attentive and he was the best with responding to questions and concerns. And when I had concerns about delays in my project, I would email him and it would be fixed right away. The solar industry is one where many people have a lot of questions, uncertainty in effectiveness, and aren’t sure if it’s right for them. And people in general don’t trust solar companies and sales people. It takes time to complete a solar project from contract to actually generating electricity for the home. For me, I decided to go with solar because the 30% tax credit was ending (and now that I actually see results, it’s worth it even without the tax credit). However, since I was in a tight window to get everything completed before December 31st, I was very nervous as to if the project would be done on time. if it wasn’t for my persistence, and for Mason’s help, I don’t think it would have been done Before December 31st and I would have been very upset and lost out on the tax credit. So again, GO WITH MASON at Solar Optimum, you won’t regret it. If I get another home, I will 100% use this company again, and would 100% ONLY work with Mason.

Stay Away

Stay far away from this company – a complete nightmare from start to finish. They promise the world during the sales pitch to close the deal, but deliver absolutely nothing. Throughout the process, I was repeatedly lied to about timelines, equipment availability, and project progress. Delays piled up with no communication or updates, leaving me in the dark for weeks at a time. When I pushed back on moving forward amid the endless delays, new team members got involved who became extremely aggressive – pressuring me aggressively and even issuing veiled threats if I didn't proceed. This company's operations seem built on lies and delays. My entire decision to go solar was based on completing installation by the end of 2025 to qualify for the 30% federal tax credit (which expires December 31, 2025), but their incompetence made that impossible. Do yourself a favor and choose a reputable installer. This experience was stressful, costly, and not worth it.

Reviewin Solar Optimum

UPDATE: We purchased solar panels and a Tesla battery from Solar Optimum earlier this year. Here is my original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/solar/comments/1lita8h/rating_solar_optimum/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button Unfortunately, I have to report that all pf the panels that were installed have stopped charging. My husband noticed a shard decrease in our productivity. He calls Solar Optimum, and after doing all the initial checks, that they'll START THE TICKET in 5 to 7 business days. I call to complain. They did me the favor of expediting the ticket and tell me that they won't send someone out to fix it until January 8th bUt I Can gO On thE WaITliST in case someone cancels. We have no choice but to accept the Jan 8th date meanwhile our panels do not work. Please beware of this and all other solar companies. Once they have your money, they DO NOT CARE. Solar Optimum is not a good company to work with. I apologize if anyone in SoCal read my previous post and pulled the trigger with them. Time frame I signed the contract in February 2025 after there was a series of three weeks in a row in which power went out in the Inland Empire. The project was completed May 2025. At the end of each step I would ask: 1. What should I expect next? 2. How long should it take? 3. Who is responsible? I would then wait until it was beyond the expected timeframe to call/email and ask for a status update so my project wasn't getting left behind. Ratings (/5) Energy Consultant/ Project Coordinator: ⭐⭐⭐ I have absolutely no knowledge of solar. My husband is the expert and is very picky. He spoke with the consultant during the preliminary phase to make sure he was satisfied by their proposal. We are on NEM2.0 and the consultant’s suggestions would have caused us to drop to NEW 3.0. He was hard to reach at times and was slow to return my phone calls. Design Coordinator: ⭐⭐⭐ I didn’t find the design coordinator to be very helpful. When I would ask her questions, she didn’t know or had to ask someone else. She was also very hard to get in touch with at times. She was not unkind but wasn’t exactly friendly either. We started to request to speak to other people instead of her. Site Assessors: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very nice gentleman who came and inspected our home and our roof. He was the one who alerted us to the terrible roofing job Lennar did. Yes, we gathered all of the pictures and took them straight to Lennar. Because we had proof and the roof is new, Lennar had no choice but to fix every single time that was not done correctly. I will always be grateful to the site assessor’s thoroughness. This also made me side-eye my second home inspector who supposedly reviewed the roof. Senior Project Coordinator: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This guy was awesome. He was the one who caught the design mistake that would have dropped us down to NEM 3.0. He was the one who change our design to a non-export system, which has been awesome as well. He and my husband spent a lot of time ensuring that Edison did not get any of our overflow energy (I think I’m saying that right). The way he re-designed the system, I can literally run the A/C on 65, wash clothes, dry them, run all the lights, etc and still have no bill from Edison. This is exactly what I wanted. Installers: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ They were polite, but they damaged the bottom of my garage when brining in the equipment. To Solar Optimum’s credit, they did fix the stucco. Installers were quick and everything passed inspection the first time. Overall: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ • I have no regrets about adding solar as I work from home and I need a reliable source of energy ALL THE TIME. • I didn't get paid to leave a good review

Solar Optimum--A nightmare

Solar Optimum is very pleasant to deal with UNTIL contract is signed. They will keep NO contact or relationship with customer after the contract is signed. Customer is left in dark and struggling to talk. They do not reply to emails. If their main number is called, they promptly answer thinking it is a new customer. And when a question is asked, they say someone will call. It does not happen, no one calls. I have dealt with Hemant Sehgal, Allen Garidian, Charles Buckley on emails and some others on the phone. Mostly they do not answer the phone and do not reply to emails. The Solar Panels installer comes and goes at his will, without informing. No information, documentation and warranty were provided about the system. The installer came and went like a ghost. There is no information to contact their headquarters and CEO. They have not sent me an invoice, but keep on asking me to pay. My efforts to get an invoice failed. This is my personal experience with Solar Optimum. This company is a nightmare to deal with. Business practices questionable

Due to the online solar company practices, Solar Optimum in particular, I've decided to go elsewhere. These people are unscrupulous. They require contract signing and a $1000 deposit before doing an on site evaluation which they said would cost them two or three hundred dollars. If then they say expensive additional work like moving the breaker panel or replacement or some upgrade that would require great expense to meet current building codes that are different from when the home was built in 1968 and I decide not to go ahead then the deposit is forfeited. They also undersized the system to make it seem more affordable and it's expected they would at some point say it needs more or higher wattage panels to meet my needs. I'm an retired electrical/mechanical engineer and have no desire to spend $40,000 to simply cut my monthly electrical bill by 50%. The ITC is of no value and not needed so the total cost is what comes out of my pocket. I offered to pay the cost of site evaluation and only if my decision is to go ahead then they should reduce the deposit accordingly. It's clear they operate in this fashion as many people will accept the cost increases even if inappropriate because human nature keeps them from walking away and losing the money. It a method of capturing the customer. I will not accept this type of behavior and ended the conversation. I've done extensive research into this project and feel it's upon me to take it from hereon.
