SunCommon - Profile & Reviews

SunCommon® was organized from the beginning as a Benefit Corporation and is a Certified BCorp, having passed a rigorous assessment of responsible business practices. That means it was our choice to be legally bound to put our employees, our communities and the habitat that sustains us all on equal footing with making a profit.

We feel a huge responsibility to succeed – in order to honor our triple bottom line commitments to people (our employees and their families, our customers and residents of the communities where we do business), planet (our beloved local environment and the broader globe, given climate change) and profit (providing capital to grow, revenue to share among our employees and a reasonable return to our investors).

We had a lot to learn about solar when we first began discussions with Craig from SunCommon. He was expert and patiently worked through all our questions and decisions. I have no hesitation in recommending him and SunCommon.

  • "Wish I had done it sooner"

They were quick and efficient. They put up the system and had it running in about 3 days. The only hitch I ran into was that I didn't know my power company required a home energy audit before they would connect me. SunCommon found me a company in my area that would do this for me and offered to pay for it themselves because they didn't warn me of this.
At about a year part of the system failed and they replaced it free in a week although it was their busy time.
All in all my only regret was that I didn't do it sooner. I haven't paid for electric power in a year and it really feels good.

Thank you for your review! We pride ourselves on our work, and on being there when things don't go exactly as planned for our customers. In the end, we hear, "I wish I had gone solar sooner" a lot.

Here's to the long, sunny days of spring and summer!

We had our solar installed in late 2019, SunCommon was by far the right choice. The sales rep (Nick) made us feel well informed instead of being "sold to" or talked down to. Nick was patient, addressed our questions and took a lot of extra time to help us understand the savings, the benefits, and the options available to us.

The install coordination team and designers were also quite patient and informative. They made sure we loved our solar design and bent over backwards to make the installation date work around our travel plans. The best thing about working with SunCommon were the people. You get a sense that they're all genuinely driven by a shared mission, not just doing a job.

The highlight of it all was SunCommon's installation crew. They were efficient, polite, funny, and respectful. Some of the most hardworking people I've ever seen, and they installed our solar with a smile. Our crew lead's name was Dan, the whole team was informative and a pleasure to work with. If you're thinking about going solar, SunCommon is the way to go, no question.

  • "Helping Us Help Ourselves"

    Reviewed Apr 10, 2020

As an early proponent of solar energy, I was stymied in implementing an array on our property. Having a location suitable for harvesting sunlight is the 1st consideration. Our location gets a failing grade in a site survey. SunCommon offers participation in community solar arrays as well as on-premises installations. We opted for the CSA option.
Just as important in the sales engagement process is the help afforded to make solar a viable reality. Cash as well as attractive financing options are presented. SunCommon works with a credit union that is committed to offering low interest loans for solar, whether CSA or on-site.
On top of all that, there are periodic incentives to enhance the offerings. All the heavy lifting required to satisfy State and Federal tax incentives is done by SunCommon.
SunCommon is fully engaged before, during and after the sale, making for a seamless acquisition process and a sense of being part of a movement to change our energy habits.

Thank you for your review, and for choosing to go solar! The CSA is a great option for so many folks, like you, who can't have an array on their property. I'm glad to hear that the SunCommon experience was a positive one for you!

We engaged SunCommon (NY) to design a solar array for our house and could not be happier with their service. Everyone we have so far encountered from the company has been friendly, very informative, and professional, helping us to find the best solution for our needs, both in terms of the energy output and to customize the esthetics of design.

Craig helped us maximize the energy output of our system and minimize the costs.

Thanks to Craig and Christian and Harrison and the rest of the crew!
