Certasun

I requested for a quote from certasun for my solar panel installation. The salesperson set up a microsoft teams meeting, but never show up for the meeting. next day when I e mailed him about what happened, he said that due to bad weather he could not show up. Then set up another one, and that went well. He made an estimate for me, which was much higher than the other installers. When I said that I am evaluating different options, he keep on saying about the negative things of others, rather than the advantages of going with certain. To him all other installers are very bad and only his company is genuine. He keep on forcing me to take a decision at the earliest as if the entire company is waiting for me. Finally I signed his contract and he cancelled it from his side saying that I need to sign IL shines agreement first and then contract with Certasun. He never told me to do so before signing the contract. At that point I took a break and looked at other providers proposal. But he keep on compelling me to sign as if I need to sign at a knife point. I did not like the way the treat their customers.

All the folks I interacted with from getting the quotes, chosing the design and system options, installation, permitting, etc were nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. The process from beginning to end takes a couple months or more, but my system was installed and operational faster than I expected. Some delays in the process came from my side, my misunderstanding. Certasun reps were very understanding and helped me through the entire process. I got a few quotes from other solar installation companies and Certasun had the best finanacial bottom line for me. They told me about rebates/net metering options and educated me on the full amount of SREC and other tax credits I am entitled to and helped me to apply for all of them. Other companies failed in this regard. I strongly recommend checking out and going with Certasun!

I used Certasun to install my solar back in 2021 and my Tesla Powerwall3 system late last year. From a technical standpoint, they are good. But it's the business side that's left me feeling scammed. They called me last year to sell me on the Tesla Powerwall3 system. They said with the federal tax credit and a ComEd rebate program, my net cost would be around a 1/3 the full price. I've worked with them before, so I trusted what they quoted. I got the federal tax credit for last year, and was waiting for the ComEd rebate check. I checked with them back in May, and they said I should get the check by early July. It's August, so I emailed last week and Jennifer said she should know by tomorrow. And I haven't heard anything from her since. She's ignored my emails and calls. Today, I decided to call ComEd directly to get the status. I was informed that my application was rejected because it only included the battery storage and that my solar was installed before 8/2022. They sent the rejection back to Certasun, so they've known for months and didn't say anything to me. They should have known the parameters of the ComEd rebate program. I don't know if this is incompetence or out rights lies, but they haven't tried to make it right. They're just ignoring it and hoping I'll just go away it seems.

Based on a neighbor's advice, we decided to use Certasun for our Solar Installation. We had an issue where the system was temporarily left on after initial connections to the grid were made for testing. Since the Permits were in process, we disconnected and Certasun turned on the system promptly thereafter. We had a service call a slight misalignment of a panel connection, and Certasun people showed up and fixed that even though it had not affected our energy production. There were no surprises during the entire process. I happened to call Cetrasun for a Battery backup for this system and was shown that I will be at breakeven on the cost of our system in less than 6 years from Installation, while we thought it would be 7 or more years to achieve that. We are thrilled and 100% satisfied with our decision to use Certasun.

Great to save money on my electric bill, the Certasun people have been extremely helpful in guiding me through the process and following up. I heartily recommend them!

I started my solar investigation in the spring of 2024 and the project was finished at the end of June 2024. I "interviewed" many companies, but Paul was my first and last sales person. Certasun did an excellent job making their way through the long process to get my system installed and hooked up to Comed. Suggestion: when looking for a solar company ask for the differences of different brand/type of panels and all the different financing choices.
