Evolution Energy

After shopping around for almost two years (yes, years) and coming dangerously close to signing with another installer, I’m very glad I found Evolution Energy. I discovered them through the EnergySage platform, and they stood out right away with the most competitive pricing and contracts that were refreshingly buyer-friendly — no weird fine print gymnastics. Going solar + battery storage is a big financial decision, especially with the upfront investment, so having someone who could patiently walk me through every step was critical. Enter Alex, the MVP project manager. He was incredibly responsive, answered every “quick question” (and the not-so-quick ones), and never made me feel rushed or silly for asking. He also helped me find a financing option with a very competitive APR, which made the decision feel a lot more manageable. The team delivered exactly as promised and completed the project on time, which mattered a lot so I could secure the federal tax credit before it runs out at the end of the year. If you’re considering solar and want a company that’s transparent, responsive, competitively priced, and actually enjoyable to work with, I can’t recommend Evolution Energy enough.

I recently purchased a complete solar system from Evolution Energy - 25 panels and 2 Tesla batteries - and I couldn't be happier with the entire experience from start to finish. The installation team was exceptional. They worked efficiently and professionally, completing everything on time without cutting any corners. You can tell they know what they're doing, and the quality of their work speaks for itself. Everything has been working flawlessly since installation. I want to give special recognition to Alex Harokhau in Sales. In an industry where you sometimes encounter pushy salespeople, Alex was refreshingly honest and straightforward. He got right to the point, explained everything clearly, and provided excellent customer service throughout the process. It's rare to find a salesman you can truly trust, and Alex is one of them.

Evolution Energy delivered the best fast install I’ve experienced. They were able to complete the solar installation before the rebate deadline, which was a huge plus. From start to finish, the communication was excellent and everything went smoothly. Ask for Alex — he was always available, extremely professional, kept me informed, and answered every question I had. On top of that, they offer the best rates. Very happy with the work from Evolution Energy. Alex has been super helpful and got us the system we needed Panels + Battery Backup for a good price, and because they are part of the California GoGreen financing program, we got financing for so much less than many others offer. Everything is up and running and looks great and we are already generating a lot of power even on these shortest days of the year. The installation is clean and looks nice on our new roof. Evolution Energy also referred us to a roofer who did a great job getting our home ready for solar.

My planning process began several years ago. The winter of extremely high gas prices was the catalyst event. My project was going to remove all dependency on gas utilities. End goal convert house to all electrical. The internet was my resource center. As a DIY kind of guy, I was all in. Started slowly replacing kitchen gas stove with induction stove. MY Account on SCE was quite helpful. The second upgrade was the house service panel from 100 to 200 amp. The third upgrade was replacing the gas water heater with a heat pump water heater. The gas bill was definitely dropping but the electrical bill was rising (not a surprise). The fourth upgrade was replacing the furnace with a heat pump central heating system. I close out the gas utility account (major celebration). For the next year or so I got used to living without gas. The final upgrade to a roof solar panel system was and easy next choice as the political winds of change took place. At first the process of selecting a vendor seemed quite daunting. I quickly realized I needed more guidance and turned my attention to SCE and their Energy Sage customer support option. (best decision to date). It was incredibly simple all I had to do was provide a year of SCE electrical bills. Energy Sage provided me with a dozen possible option or vendor choices. Evolution Energy was one of them. From a cost comparison viewpoint, they were very similar. Additional education was required to understand fundamentally what differentiated the various equipment options for my house. The roof tiles on my home were going to be an issue. Distance to vendor location became a factor as I would be dealing with them for years. My first several quotes were excellent learning experiences as I learned what would work best for my home. All of these early quotes came with caveats as the roof tiles might not work. None of the initial vendors seemed like the right answer for my home. I was forced to expand my request for quotes and it was in this batch that I met Evolution Energy. Alex, was the project manager from Evolution Energy, who impressed me most with his professional approach to my home solar project. In my particular situation, I wanted the Tesla Powerwall 3 configuration. He was thorough and quite expert at walking me through the various complexities of building my solar solution. He educated me about the challenges of my roof tile and several available options. Evolution Energy earliest business roots were in the roofing business. This turned out to be a solid link to my choice of solving my particular roof tile problem. By this time I was pretty familiar with the process ahead. Alex agreed to make an actual home site visit to insure I was communicating everything he needed to create an implementation quote. I live in an HOA community with pretty strict rules. Alex more than once tried to assure me that it wouldn't be a problem dealing with the HOA. The roof tile under the solar panels would have to be upgraded. Panel placement was an issue that took several attempts to get the engineering folks onboard as it also impacted the tile upgrade activities. Alex was a real champion following through with the different players. The permitting process with the city was totally handled by Evolution Energy. My only involvement was meeting the inspectors during their two site visits. With the final signed quote I forwarded the package to HOA. Alex patience was significantly deeper than mine we finally got a response with a required modification. Alex did his magic and had a formal response with drawings etc. ready for HOA about 10 days later.  This was just another example of how professionally competent and dedicated Alex was to the project. The HOA's formal authorization to proceed came a week later. Note my unprofessional concerns were primarily driven by worry about getting to the end before end of year and end of government credits. The actual work began almost immediately with the roofing team that stripped and prepared roof for upgraded tiles. All of the projects materials arrived on schedule and the various teams the following day. The extra effort to upgrade roofing tile under panels involved a number of additional steps as it all came together. Again Alex was doing his magic behind the scenes balancing the various skill requirements. There were several minor challenges involving scheduling changes but Alex was always a step ahead balancing the schedule.  Evolution Energy demonstrated multiple times it nimbleness to proactively manage and perform tasks without significant interruption to the overall plan. Alex, I'm sure was the professional making it seem quite routine. Evolution Energy was solidly performing throughout the project as various implementation challenges occurred. All of the departments and staff were professional and dedicated to accomplishing a successful project as proposed. As a trained engineer in the computer world, Evolution Energy is the kind of professional organization I would recommend to anyone that has a solar project.
