I first met the MN Solar and More team at the 2018 State Fair. I had been researching installing a solar array since 2011 but at the time it was far more costly than it is today.
The first thing that impressed me after meeting Dave and Kim was their ability to speak at a much deeper technical level. I have an engineering degree and posed some challenging technical questions, all of which were responded to with very thorough answers. The experience with MN Solar and More was excellent. From our initial discussions all the way through to the completion of installation and going live the team was amenable to all requests and was open to customizing the system to meet our needs.
I had a few goals with my solar array, one of which was maximizing PV-wattage as well as maximizing the amount of our southern roof that would be covered in panels. Many installers will present you with a system and say, "this is what we can install." The MN Solar and More team was open to my questions about different possibilities with how the system could be configured on our roof as well as working through smaller details such as where the Inverter and PV Production meter would be installed.
This team is top notch! A++++ rated! For someone with a very technical brain the team was great to work with. They are very honest about the technology, what it can and cannot do and do a great job with setting expectations.
Just when I thought I knew everything about solar, I was humbled and the team had a great opportunity to educate me about clipping after the system was installed. If you have recently installed an array, do not be alarmed if your system clips (throughout this summer mine has maybe had a total of 12 hours of clipping since going live in May). If you don't know what clipping is, ask for an explanation (or this may be a small detail you're just not interested in). Some people aren't interested in the details about how the technology works but at a minimum educate yourself about the differences between microinverter technology and SolarEdge's Power Optimizers.
The MN Solar team was really helpful as I learned more about the technology that is critical infrastructure to our PV array. This knowledge they provided and understanding the differences is the key reason I chose them to install our PV array.
Overall, we couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience with MN Solar and More. They are the first name I recommend to anyone considering a PV system and provide a much more pleasant experience than some of the larger Corporate installers. If you're in the Northwoods area of the MN State Fairgrounds, be sure to stop by and learn a bit more about solar and the team at MN Solar and More. You WON'T be disappointed with working with them.
