MN Solar and More, LLC

Our solar project was not large - a garage top project with 6.9 kW capacity. I believe the solar installation was straight-forward and has indeed worked very well since it started producing in January. What I appreciate most is the company's commitment to finishing the project to completion and working through obstacles, the entire time keeping me apprised of what was going on. The first problem was with our electrical meter bank, which for our Saint Paul home built in 1888, was in no condition to become grid-tied to Xcel. But MN Solar (and especially the electrical supervisor Randy) worked with Xcel and got the project upgraded and rebuilt to meet Xcel's requirements within the timeframe necessary for us to take advantage of last year’s federal tax credit. Due to the changes needed for Xcel connection a permit had to be pulled and when St. Paul inspectors got involved it turned out the meter bank, which had stood the way it had for who knows how long, did not meet current code. Again, a solution was devised and implemented. Our project is now clear to run on all fronts. The most impressive characteristic of MN Solar was how persistent they were in making sure we were happy with the operation of the system. We had spotty wireless service to our garage where the inverter was spotty and MN Solar hard wired the inverter to the router. They offered to upgrade the electric service to our garage to 100 amps - now the vehicle can charge from 20 to 80% in a manner of ours. And the garage is ready for an electric future that I expect but can’t predict. MN Solar went the distance in making sure we were happy with our system. There were upgrade costs due to the meter upgrades needed and addition of the 100 amp service, so the project did end up coming in higher than the original estimate, but this would have been the case with any company I would have hired. It is difficult to know the problems a project may encounter if they have yet to be encountered. Such is the nature of projects with a century old home. In the end I am very pleased with the work done and the effort put forth by MN Solar (again, especially Randy), for our project. I highly recommend anyone looking at solar installation to consider MN Solar for their project.

We contacted MN Solar to install a home solar array and battery backup. After a bit of research and a recommendation from a friend, I chose to go with the SolarEdge system. I liked that it is one of the few systems that wasn't constantly switching from DC to AC and back again with inverters at the panels, between panels and the backup battery, then from the backup battery back to the house. Other than our local utility provider's glacial approval process, the install of the system went well. MN Solar was knowledgeable and professional. The 10kWh battery has been a problem from day one. Once it was installed, a software glitch prevented it from being recognized by the system. MN Solar, did multiple visits to our house and hours on the phone with SolarEdge to diagnosis and fix the problem. It was determined by SolarEdge that our battery wasn't functioning. That was October 2025. Here we are at March 2026 and we still don't have a replacement or any idea when/if one is coming. MN Solar has copied me on the weekly emails asking for updates on the RMA for a tracking number. SolarEdge's response is something to the effect of, "We will be in touch next week with your tracking number." After 6 months of waiting and already paying for a $41k system + battery, my patience is at an end. Now, comes the "fun" of trying to get a refund for this bricked battery sitting in my basement. The app so far has worked most of the time. There have been some bugs a few days with reporting but nothing of note. The array works well. If you are considering SolarEdge, my suggestion is don't get their battery. Everything else is fine.

We really wanted to get solar installed and got a few different quotes. MN Solar was very responsive with our requests and walked us through many different options (number of panels, battery back-up options, monitoring options). We decided to go with MN Solar and couldn't be happier. They walked us through the entire application, installation, and connection process. Their team was very helpful in educating us about the product and their monitoring app along the way. We're extremely happy to be producing our own power! We highly recommend MN Solar if you're looking for a good company to install solar!

I like the way they walked me through all the paperwork. The installation went smoothly. We're almost 3 years after the installation with no issues. The roof estimated size didn't match reality. The difference was a few inches, but we have to meet code. The additional panels were installed on adjacent roof sections. Hopefully the measurement tech has improved in the last few years. I don't get follow-on sales garbage. I love that.

We are entirely happy with the service and performance of rooftop panels from Minnesota Solar and More. Their workers were polite, efficient, and neat, and we are glad to do our bit for clean energy. Thank you.

Absolutely fantastic company and people. They believe in what they do! Clear communication, several options and solutions explored for our needs, talked and walked us through everything. Difficulties came up with utility company when applying for interconnection; MN Solar stuck with us and advocated strongly through the entire ordeal. Installation was extremely smooth and efficient even during a heat wave. Unforeseen issues with electric during install were resolved without delay. System is up and running! Would very highly recommend!
