Delay, Deny, and Decieve

It has been 330 days since I signed a contract with Demand Construction (DC), to install solar panels and a battery with a 60-day guarantee. DC has not fulfilled the terms of this contract providing only empty promises and unfounded excuses. Instead, DC has received over 2/3rds of the contract price. It seems that DC’s business strategy is to bill a client for most of the contract cost and then not follow through on their promise. Dely, Deny, and Deceive. It took 96 days for DC to get the plans approved by the City due to DC’s inability to correctly enter the information into the City’s plan approval system. I was notified on 3/6/25 (147 days post signing) by DC that installation would take place at the “end of March”. Then on 5/9/25, I was told that a hard date for installation would be 6/10/25 (211 days) but that installation date was cancelled on 5/28/25 (230 days) with no follow up date. On 6/6/25, DC informed me that the REC460 panels were in short supply and if I were to accept installing REC450 panels they could install them at once. I acquiesced to this change. DC then had to resubmit the plans to the Houston permitting center which was not done until 8/5/25. The construction submittal has failed on multiple attempts as of today (330 days). The new plans had not been signed off by an “engineer of record, Scott Wyssling" and the electrical submission failed on 8/22/25 because the plans were not “completed and prepared by a Professional Engineer or a Licensed Master Electrician” On 6/13/25 (246 days) I wrote an email letter to DC asking that the contract be cancelled and payments returned. I did not receive a response except for a call from a DC salesman who promised that the installation would be done on 7/3/25. Nothing was done on this date. On 7/13/25 I sent a certified letter to DC demanding that either they install the equipment or refund my payment within the next 10 business days. The certified letter was rejected and sent back to me unopened. I have filed complaints with the BBB, California, Texas, and Florida. I have begun looking for another installer.

Delayed but Installed

The work done was very clean and thorough. Panels work great and wiring was clean. Main issue I had was delays, but ultimately everything worked out. Did not pay me 500 for the operation application. Looks like they went out of business.

Deposit stolen. Company unresponsive

This scam company stole my $1,000 deposit after designing my system and are now completely unresponsive. Avoid like the plague.

Bankrupt?

They ghosted me and didn't respond after taking my deposit. Looks like I'm not alone see Reddit Post: www dot reddit dot com/r/solar/comments/1owk3om/demand_construction_out_of_business/ DO NOT USE this company. They will take your money. Both the state contractor license board (in CA) and BBB do not recommend them. Their contractors license has been revoked in CA. If you get solar, make sure you use a good credit card for the deposit (so you can dispute it if things go bad) and if they require a large deposit, use a company to hold the funds (i.e. an Escrow or Fund Control). Write this in your response if they want 1/2 of the funds up-front: "I am not comfortable releasing 50% unsecured. I would like to use a Fund Control service to hold the deposit, or I need you to provide a Performance Bond to secure my down payment."

Not a real company.

Sent in the $1k when I signed the contract. They were not very responsive but enough to give me a plan set. It was incorrect and they said they would fix it. Sent in the first third of the payment ($14k) per the contract. That's when they stopped responding all together. I went back and forth on whether this was a real company overwhelmed by the end of the subsidy or a scam. Have to go with a scam since every request to multiple emails and phone numbers are not responsive. It's been 3 months since they have communicated and nothing since I sent in the first third of the payment.
